In all honesty this is true. I'd love a young thug/Lupe type hybrid. But would the fickle fans?

PEOPLE/FANS aren't well rounded, peep forums and comment sections. It's always "this a banger, fukk that lyrical shyt" or "this that real hip hop!" That shyt is corny as hell but the norm.

Nothing anyone can do about it, musical taste correlates with experience in life. :manny:
true very true that type of rapper most likely doesnt exist

well to the extreme of a thugger/lupe

but a dude exceptionally lyrical and can make hits is POSSIBLE but the climate just wont allow it

rap fans are too extreme its either you're future or kendrick for them

Back in MY day, nikkas called each other wack and had rhyme books, schemes and patterns different from the next man because the talent was in being different. Every song wasn't one big remix and if you wasn't saying shyt we wasn't buying shyt cause we had to pay for music. You knew a nikka was from NY when he spit, you nikkas from down south damn near had to be legendary to be noticed, and they were. They damn sure didn't rely on beats, like you yungins. Now git the fukk out my grass....

He's absolutely right. People are settling for average. I guarantee you, let another rapper come in the game with God-tier levels of heart, passion and work ethic for what he does, and you'd see how drastic the levels are. If hits are all a rapper needs, then he could just study the climate and work off that.

I'd say a Thugger/Lupe-hybrid rapper is possible. It'd be difficult, but it can be done. All one would have to do is learn Thug's vocal techniques and then blend that into their own thing. Thug's style is more or less inspired by Wayne's style. :yeshrug: So I'm sure said rapper could do it. Then, he would need to become an exceptional lyricist. Become adept at that, which in the underground, there's plenty of really incredible lyricists hanging around. It'd just all come down to carving a style out. Would it work? That... Idunno lol, cause that type of rapper sounds really out there. But most great artists didn't follow trends, they just did their own thing and broke doors down doing it.

So when someone says "lyrical myrical" rhymes here, that means they're lyrical but boring?

Have we reduced lyricism to a liability in hip hop?

In 2005-9 we wouldve sacrificed relatives for rappers in the mainstream like kendrick and jcole. Yall memories are too short.
