just do both

what's to debate?

This. I do it personally because I think it prevents me from slowing in bball:yeshrug: Have to do the calisthenics explosive though

Do both
profit?

Any solid exercise routine will have weights, calisthenics and plyometrics in it. I actually think the body weight exercises work best after the muscles are already fatigued from weights but that's my broscience.

if you can continue adding load/resistance to calesthinics they are jsut as good as weight training

and because of the movements improve functional strength as well

but that depends on increasing the load

doing 1000s of pushups isnt the same as doing 20 pushups with 90lbs strapped to you :mjpls:

:comeon: people only think of traditional movements when they hear calisthenics. Hip push-ups, planche push-ups, one arm push-ups, Bulgarian split squats and pistol squats, etc also fall under the calisthenics category and they will all make you feel like a bytch with NO weight added.

Plus the same ppl who say that are the same ones goin to the gym puttin up cake weight for high reps with terrible form.

calisthenics has gone a long way in helping healing up along with chiro treatments since this february..my lower body strength has improved tremendously...i can't wait until january when i can combine this with my old lifting routine...get back to prime form (and hopefully remain injury free)

It's all relative.
You can have a 6 foot man who weighs 170 lbs. and can do 5 pull-ups, 45 push-ups and has bench press one-rep max of 160 lbs. Then, you have a 5' 7" foot man who weighs 170 lbs. and can do 15 pullups, 35 pushups and has a bench press one-rep max of 270 lbs. They are both in physically-fit condition. The taller guy is lean and the shorter guy is more buff. Who can you beat in a wrestling match? Who can you beat in a boxing match? Does it matter. The taller guy might want to be leaner because he's into baseball. The shorter guy might want to be more muscular for football.

In my experience, doing calisthenics BEFORE a weight workout produces better results with strength and size. It keeps your body loose and it keeps your strenght very functional. If I had to choose, I'd take calisthenics over weights in a heartbeat.
