The Black Community
Welcome to The Root, a new way to discuss and debate both historical and contemporary issues of the black experience. Myself and @Theraflu will be the mods for this subforum.

We want The Root subforum to be an inviting space to discuss issues surrounding race, racism, class, gender, economics, globalism, theoretical perspectives, social movements, racialized stereotypes, etc. Creating an inviting space allows for progressive, solution-oriented conversation, networking, and healthy debate. To accomplish this, the staff will be extremely vigilant and exercise a ZERO TOLERANCE policy on derogatory and regressive remarks and threads.

This IS NOT THE RACE TRACK, meaning anything DOES NOT go. If you are making a post about a racial topic, please place it in proper context. For example, saying things like "blacks aren't smart enough to create businesses" is derogatory and without context. Instead, "Why haven't black businesses sustained?" or "What's wrong with Black businesses?" A topic that is more open so as not to place a baseless and racist judgment on a group. Blacks on the coli should not have to feel as though they have to go into a thread defending ourselves; we can be both critical and honest about all aspects of society.

The staff of The Root is dedicated to changing how the coli portrays and talks about non white groups, particularly Black people. This will not be a black bashing subforum AT ALL. We want all races and groups to feel comfortable and welcome to come to the coli to have healthy discussion and possibly create movements to help each other and our people move forward.

Again, we want this to be mature discussion that portrays African Americans and other groups in a more critical manner. WE WILL NOT CENSOR YOUR VOICE OR OPINION, BUT WHEN YOUR OPINION BECOMES DEROGATORY, THEN WE WILL REMOVE IT. There is nothing wrong with discussing racial stereotypes or anything surrounding race, but there is a healthy way to do it without being offensive. It doesn't matter if you are a Christian, Atheist, Republican, Democrat, Radical, Liberal, Conservative, whatever, you can make your point and debate without being offensive or racist. If you can't do this, then you won't be here long.

Therefore, all topics about race and racism will be discussed here. We look forward to having the best subforum on the coli with all the great brehs and brehettes!
