Not necessarily just R&B but black masculinity is dead.
I hear what you are saying but I must respectfully disagree. When it was a collaboration of r&b and rap which had been common for a long time it used to still be a clear distinction what you were doing or what the two artist were doing. Now it's literally the same lol. These type of discussions are always a bit disingenuous as it overlooks the important aspect that a lot of those R&B Artist had their biggest success when their albums and songs crossed over to other genres. The majority of those biggest Motown Hits weren't even necessarily R&B and even they'd tell you that.
I remember people getting mad at Smokey Robinson when he made that exact comment. Those blurred genre lines that people are complaining about having been having for a long time. People just overlook it and equate certain songs with a particular genre.
My boy Abel put the final nail in the coffin and went on to create a whole new genre.. GM&B.. fukk that simp nikka music.. these young nikkas need music that’s gonna prepare them for the real world not a fantasy.
