Well, I May NOT Get That Job That I Was "Led To Believe" That I Was Getting (Should I Be Worried?)

So, this week went smoothly and some of last week. Noted, there are 16 Mexicans that work in the labor unit and the shipping office is filled with Whites. Only three guys NOT incliding me (temp dude) is Black. So, today the assistant to the White guy gets a little upset at me for no reason. He told me to go over there with the Mexican guys. I did that and tried to plug up the machine like I always do. The guy said not right now. When the assistant Mexican guy sees me he gets a little furious and tells the foreman. Foreman dude mocked it a little and didn't get furious. Now, I get up 3 AM this morning as always to go there. They knock us off at 10 AM because of no work.

I'll be honest, ever since I asked how many hours I had and it was close to 400 (480 is needed to get hired) sh-t's been getting weird. The crazy part is is that they acted/led me to believe that they were going to hire me. They showed me how to turn on and off the machines and said once I got permanent I'll be working with such and such.

So, I was led on to believe I was going to get something that I wasn't going to get :snoop: Also, the latest dude that they hired CAN'T speak a lick of English. Is it me overreacting or do I have a right to be concerned? I've been told that my work ethic is up to par and etc. Every job I've held I've received a good letter of recommendation. Granted, on that job temps came there high and cursed one dude out. Not me :jawalrus: This week a dude even gave me a ride to the temp place that's a permanent (black breh). I'm confused.

Never again will I take anyone's word if it's not on paper. I had EVERYTHING ready from my direct deposit slip to give the company I was gonna work for to my finances. Everything and etc I had prepared may have been over false promises and pretenses. Dirty azz sh-t man. My father even told me (he's a foreman) that I may have been led on and I believe him. He's been in the construction business for 40 years.

Everything that I'm asked to do I do it and don't have a temper. Some workers are on their phones when it's against policy not me.

Never count your chickens before they hatch as they say. You were taking it easy and easing up because you thought you had it in the bag.

You may still get the job but learn from this.

Asking questions is great but don't ask too many questions but rather sometimes try figuring it out yourself so you show initiative.
Also you have to work harder than your coworkers because you are a brother and so keep doing your thing.

Keep grinding man and I hope things work out for you.

I stopped asking those questions though and had the same work ethic. This dude that I know through temp works at a shipyard as a specialist, even he told me that some people may sabotage. Hate to say it, but there's a reason why there's 16 immigrants and three Blacks. However, I agree with your advice and will take it. Thanks for pointing that out. Also, they hate when I come in the lounge and one dude even stared at me.

Usually Temp jobs like that use you and consider you easily disposable. It's kind of fukked up.
I agree it is messed up, but I'm trying to see what my alternatives are. I'm always the first guy there in the morning and never late. Also, I'm the type that believes that one should EARN not be at a job to collect a check. I'm old school when it comes to work.

They about make breh Jr assistant janitor and work 1 hr a week :lupe:
They knocked us off four hours (10 AM) before (I was there) and some Black breh cursed the foreman out there. I worry because I know how two faced Mexicans can be (no racism). The only ethnic group of Hispanic origin that I've had issues with. I don't hate nor dislike them, but they are hard to get along with. Even Cubans are cool to work and socialize with. Filipinos too.

I'll never forget that White dude (70's) told me in 1956 he started his own business and gave me pointers. I'm glad I listened to him (first job). He was a customer and we talked for over 19 minutes. It's better to have your own sh-t and that's what I'm working towards.

Hey Joe why can't your pops help you get on? As a foreman he should have some connections to get you in the door to a apprentice position. Them temp agencies and gigs are unreliable.
Oh and breh it's ethic, work ethic

I have a great work ethic. Also, my father offered, but I don't want to be a guy that's known for only getting a job because his pops works there. My father helped me with the temp thing. He did enough in my opinion. I have a great father.
