I think back in the day buying an album and playing it multiples times made you convince yourself it was better than it was. And sometimes an album has to grow on you tooThis is a good point but would apply even more if we had only physical copies, I'm sure I'm not the only one that buys (a lot) of physicals but mainly plays digital.
As far the barrier of entry you're 100 % right, It's challenging not to shyt on these unoriginal biters and variants ...
