So when Marcus leads his team down the field to give the Titans the lead late in the 4th quarter against the Jaguars, Colts, Bills, and Raiders, but all games the Titans lost because the defense couldn't get a stop, I can actually use that to boost Marcus's value? :ohhh:

The nerve to say I'm stat watching and then say something like that. :russ:
Most of the Titans losses this year are less than 6 points after Marcus usually puts us ahead before or in the 4th, seems like you're under valuing Marcus as well. He's the only thing going right for the Titans. Let's not pretend like Doug Martin hasn't been going on a tear. Most can't even name the Titans starting RB let alone their best receiver.

You have to take the bitter with the sweet. Almost doesn't count. Should I go on about the missed fg against Houston? The 24 point lead against Washington? Mike Evans case of the drops a few weeks ago? They're both balling but when you're talking about Most Valuable or Most Outstanding rookie, give me the guy with the stats AND results.

Hopefully it turns into this era's Manning v. Brady

It won't be that, b/c they play in different conference. But hopefully they become top QB's of the future who are battling for SB's year in year out....
:patrice:
Full disclosure: there was a strong temptation to sensationalize this article’s thesis. Analyzing Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota two-thirds through their rookie seasons, the following angles were legitimately considered:

• This is the best pair of quarterbacks to enter the NFL since 2004 (Manning-Rivers-Roethlisberger—mix and match them how you wish.)

• These are the two quarterbacks you’d most want to build your team around long-term aside from Andrew Luck and maybe Cam Newton (Russell Wilson fans, fetch your pitchforks).

• Mariota is the most overachieving rookie the NFL has seen this decade, Titans record be damned.

• Winston is the best pure first-year pocket passer of the 2000s.

All of these angles are within the hemisphere of reasonable, but it’s much too early to formally declare any of them.

If both young quarterbacks can keep matriculating and, occasionally accelerating, down their current paths, then four or five years from now, this article might very well be debating which of the two is the best in all of football. There’s your sensationalism.

Houston to LA like I'm Robert Horry.

That's fine if you want to look at it that way, but Mariota's stats are better than Jameis, by a decent margin too IMO.

Higher passer rating by almost 10 points. More passing TD's, less interceptions, more rushing yards. Better completion percentage, the same yardage per completion. Two less games played. The only stats Jameis is winning is rushing TD's and overall turnovers:yeshrug: Doing all that with less to work with too.

If you want to say Jameis is doing better in a team statistic, cool. If you want to say Jameis looks better "in person" cool. Marcus is doing it too is my point and in my personal opinion, a higher level.

Jameis is/was better in Pro Football Focus and QBR before this week's game. Have to see how they fair out afterwards. But in advanced statistics Jameis has been slightly better.

Also this week was the first game all of his WR/TE targets were healthy. Bucs really dont have a legit #3 wr either. Although Marcus has been throwing to mostly #2 and 3 wrs as well. So thats what makes what he's doing all the more impressive.

As the article I posted pointed out.

Winston's lows were pretty bad so they hurt his overall #s. However, since about week 5 or 6....Winston's had some of the best #s in the league. Mariota has a higher floor, I believe Winston has the higher ceiling.

Odell Beckham's team was 6-10 last year and he still won OROY.

Ok, cool....thanks for bringing apples to an orange conversation. W-L records follow coaches and QBs. In a conversation between Jameis and Marcus, give me the guy with the stats AND results.

Winston legit got my bum ass Bucs in the playoff hunt lol. He clearly the better leader and signal caller

Mariotta still learning, he can't throw anything that isnt a slant/seam route, he straight though.

1. No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston is taking steps toward becoming a superstar QB.

Winston posted the best grade of his rookie season and was a large part in the Buccaneers’ downing of the Falcons this week. He again displayed some impressive passing and poise, as well as his very own movie-moment when he asked in the huddle who wanted to score the go-ahead TD before hitting Mike Evans for the game-winner.

As the year winds down, Winston is almost level with the end-of-season cumulative grade achieved by Teddy Bridgewater last season as the best rookie quarterback performance we have seen since the otherworldly class of 2012. He currently ranks No. 18 in our PFF grades, and if you removed his disastrous Week 1 performance against the Titans from the equation, he’d be approaching top-10 status in our grades.
Lavonte David, Jameis Winston fueling Bucs

Like I said...both are playing great. Gotta look deeper on the #s with Winston to see just how impressive he's played.
