And then they hit up the legendary Mariah Carey as well! Props to Mariah for using the "breakdown" double entendre after she had a very real one on MTV's Total Request Live.

Correction she hit bone up
fun fact both biggie and Mariah was trying to do the whole bone cadence and flow on these tracks lol both produced by stevie J and that should of been another number one hit for Mariah. :mjcry:

Another fact big was dissing wu

also on the Vol 1 collection of breakdown, layzie did a verse and there’s an guitar added to the beat.

“ So what do you do when somebody you're so devoted to
Suddenly just stops loving you
And it seems they haven't got a clue
Of the pain that rejection is putting you through?
Do you cling to your pride and sing "I Will Survive"?
Do you lash out and say: "How dare you leave this way"? :mjcry:

add in when krayzie came in with the “ roll roll roll on gotta get controlllll “ :wow:

The diversity of rap talent back then was amazing. That midwest Cleveland rap game was so different from the deep South rap game which was different from the New York rap game which was different from the California rap game. All good though.
Well not really because Bone was just influenced off of a lot of Memphis underground RAP.

But Bone was great at it and worthy of keeping that title. Can't ever really call them no biters cuz they were such a great talent.

I remember watching this video debut on rap city...the shyt had me like "What is this?!!":dwillhuh:..I had never heard anything like this before

Breh...

I thought them nikkas was some aliens straight up.

Youngins might not get it because their DNA is so entrenched in the sound of hip hop today, but back in 94 this was some otherworldly shyt.

Bone doesn't get anywhere near the recognition they deserve, especially in relation to how loved they were back then.

Only nikkas with a record with Eazy, Pac, and Big. :wow:

Everybody loved them.

I don't even count them in my greatest rappers thoughts because it wouldn't be fair.

Bizzy and Krazie are two of the absolute illest nikkas to ever pick up a microphone and Layzie ain't too far behind.

Like, y'all nikkas really think about this, especially those of us that are old enough to remember exactly what our opinions was of certain artists before we allowed cacs to come in and rewrite the history.

We all loved Pac and/or Big to death (depending on where you was from), while they was alive (I hate to hear young, dumb muthafukkas try to equate their legendary status strictly with their deaths when they were both living legends while walking God's green Earth, but that's another thread), and regardless of how dope and legendary we all thought Big and Pac was at the time, there wasn't a nikka alive that thought they, or any other rapper besides Twista, could hang with Bone on a track when we found out they was doing a record with them.

Facts.

I'm including this young boy's perspective just to put a smile on y'all old nikkas faces...

How about at the 4 minute 23 second mark when it looks like Eazy jumps from the screen/jail cell straight through to the actual concert stage complete with the shattered glass falling on him?

I remember seeing that for the first time like...

6Hcz.gif

Eazy had such a natural "easy" casual style that made him immediately relatable. And you combine that with his unique flow, sense of humor and creativity and that added up to great talent.

Breh, that's what I'm saying :wow::mjcry:

I was 8-9 years old and thought LL Cool J was a literal god walking amongst men at the time, then Eazy muthafukkin E talked to nikkas in a crowd at a concert from jail then jumped through my floor model screen and ended up on stage walking around talking shyt.

fukked me up for life. :wow:

I had a red wagon that I walked around the hood with with my little boom box in it playing Eazy Duz it over and over.

The old heads always called me over and had my rap Still Talkin so they could get a laugh while they was chillin on the block.

That was my first taste of little hood fame and I was hooked.

Imagine a bad ass lil 8 year old rappin this shyt word for word..

Still know it word for word :wow:

:ohhh:

I thought that was something they made for the album.

Thing about them Bone beats is that they had tons of layers. You would be 3 minutes into a song and new shyt is still being introduced. I swear you could take 1 song on E1999 and make 4 songs out of it today.

Yeah I wish we could go back in time. It's totally different now. Where are the good lyricists who can also have a sense of humor and creativity mixed in like Eazy-E...Biz Markie...Biggie...Shock G...? Rappers were much more versatile than they are now.
