Yeah i was a kid :dahell:
I was watching The Toy yesterday, some kids can have anything they want :manny:
I knew what torrents were at a young age :mjpls:
You must be like... 16? We didn't even have the option to rent from a blockbuster when I was little
Blockbuster was only in the west coast (and so was Taco Bell)
Erols was what was poppin :whew:
Y'all used to steal the demo discs out the magazines at the super market?:mjpls:

I put in hours on some demo discs like they were full games
I'd take the whole magazine, disc or no disc :obama:

1.) We all were except for the few uppity types like @Rekkapryde who grew up outside of Tyrone in a little town called Moteasir

2.) Didn't you just sell your PS4 so you can take a c00n pilgrimage to Japan to perform in the play "Friends" as Marcel?

So what system did you buy games for :lupe:
#2 :laff: :laff:

My family was middle class most of my childhood. But when pops got laid off, we was on the stamps for like two years.

I had all the og systems from Atari to super Nintendo. My moms was a department manager for Woolworth and she would always cop me the latest consoles every Christmas. I remember she use to always bring me a new ninja turtle toy or gi joe every paycheck.

Woolworth went out of business and my moms just became a stay at home. I missed out on owning the PS1 and n64 the first couple of years they were out cuz that's the time we was on welfare.

I do remember buying my PS2 on launch and busting my ass at a chicken coop farm at 14. I remember I pre-ordered it through circuit city. Even tho my pops got a better job than he had before, he basically told me he wasn't gonna buy me none of that foolishness. I smelt like chicken shyt for 4 months just to save up. The shyt we do for games.
Damn breh. I got my first job at 15. At the end of that summer I set aside about 500 bucks to save for a ps2 bundle release date. All the ps2s sold out though :mjcry: Had to wait like 2 months to get one
I remember downloading psx isos off of mIRC and kazaa :ohlawd:
Man ur taking it back. I had a friend from florida who did this for me. Shipped me Chrono Cross and Vagrant story.
Meech brought it back with that.

I remember being so excited when we would order pizza cuz I new they came with demo disks :ohlawd:

considering I only got games twice a year unless I saved up, them demo disks held me over :wow:

I played that damn bloody roar demo like it was the full game. Same with MGS1.
All of the mgs demos got me hype. I remember my sophomore year of college copping EGM just to get that MGS 3 demo.
That was back when renting games was where it was at. I used to take the SNES cartridges apart
And switch the game chip that was inside one of my old games with the new rental.

I got away with that for awhile then Blockbuster ended up catching a little nikka and charged my ma's account for the new price of the games they caught me turning in one day that I had switched.

That ass whippin that night :whew:

I still have welts from it brehs :mjcry:
How the fukk u figure that out?
I'd get 3 games a year, one for my birthday (October), one for Christmas and one when I went to visit my dad in the summer.

It would usually be one of the DBZ games and the Smackdown vs Raw games and some random game I wanted like a GTA or a Mortal Kombat.

Nowadays I ain't that big of a gamer so 2K and COD can last me throughout the whole year until the next iteration comes out.
damn ur missing out on a lot of games doing that

Respectfully speaking, were/are your parents stupid or something? That's like thinking that 1nce you by a video player, then you all good cuz it's not like the thing needs video tapes to operate ya know....

Anywho, while we weren't outright broke, it was just me and my moms most of my youth growing up and she'd only get me a game on special occasions like birthday, Christmas and if I made honor roll in school. So from NES-SNES years, I'd only average about 3-4 games a year, with getting 2 games on Christmas, but only 1 for any other occasion. While I was smart enough, I was too lazy to make honor roll year round, as it was more like 1nce a school year, lol. Games were much more expensive in cartridge form too, so I know I'd almost never get more than 2 at any given time.

Come PSX years tho and the change to cheaper disc format, and my moms making more money then, on Christmas, I could usually get about 3-4 games and maybe 2 games for birthdays. So on average, I was getting about 4-6 games a year at least. At any rate, from NES thru PSX years, I played the bulk of my games moreso thru borrowing from friends/family and renting them and just got the games bought for me that I wanted most.

I didn't get a job until after high school, when the PS2 had just came out, so that was the first time I was actually buying games with my own money. At that point, I was buying games at least 1nce a month or so tho, plus this was Funcoland era, so trade-ins and 1-week returns ruled the day, so I was getting mad games then, though still pales in comparison to the last 10 years tho. PS3 era thru now, I've been getting like 3-4 games a month AT LEAST nearly, as there's always multitudes of sales, PSN+, coupons, steam deals, etc. so it's nothing. It surprises me that whiny ass would be gamers stay bytching and moaning about gaming being too much money these days. My main complaint is moreso time to actually play the games I have.
My parents are old school as fukk. I'm sure they probably know there's different games but they just never went on to buy another game for me. The last console my Mom bought me was the 64. My parents only bought us the SNES and the 64. Everything else my brother bought himself. I bought my first system(Wii) with money I made online on those freebie sites.

My older brothers always made sure we had games to play, so I never went without but one thing that was really special to me was my mother buying me the og xbox and a tv for Christmas when I went off to college
