West Coast heads, what was it like when Still D.R.E. first dropped?

half the album was ehh, still dre is the shyt tho

I don't know why the Dre Stans can't see this...the album had classic cuts, but overall it was dissapointing....Dre is still a legend...dudes need to stop catching feelings over this album...now the chronic was a perfect masterpiece.

Forgot about Dre
Xxplosive

The next episode is cool but that's about it...people actually calling this album a classic when it's 2.5 at best

But those 4 songs I listed are 4 great fukking songs

Though I don't disagree with the premise that 2001 is overrated
:dwillhuh:

original version too

saying that it was disappointing is just pure delusion...

no disappointing albums have had that much impact, or caused an entire coast to align and ride that wave.

yeah, it trailed off towards the end... but disappointing? not at all.

The beats were disappointing but the production was great. The production (the mixing, vocals, arrangements) was among the best but the beats weren't anything special. I can remember being really hyped for this album too but I don't even hardly listen the whole Chronic 2001 album. The only songs I listen to from it now are "Light Speed", "Ho's A Housewife", and "Still D.R.E.".

Now, The Chronic? That's a classic... that's a masterpiece. I still listen to that album (The Chronic) on a day to day basis. But Chronic 2001 isn't anything ground breaking or extraordinary like The Chronic.

tv? Whenever I get up enough post to make a thread i'll post some dvds that i made. for the cats who have tv's in their cars. I particularly love the "still D.R.E" vid on the 3rd verse til the end! 3rd verse is shot at night time, the chicks, cars hopping, lights, snoop, dre, etc....everybody seemed like they had a fkn ball that night(made me want to be a Cali nga). Aside from his pricey budget the rap game could use some Hype Williams directing these days.

thats the first thing that came to mind when i read this topic.

The video made the song a lot better.

The single wasn't all that well received as much as it was on the east as the west. I mean it was cool, but it did not make me wanna go get the album as much as as I already did. Just it being Dre did that but I did the same with the Aftermath compilation and was disappointed.

I may have gotten it off Napster to be honest :manny:
