I roomed and am still friends with a lot of them (a lot of Haitians and Jamaicans)...I didn't realize this was a thing til one of my old roommates hit me with the "well, you just a black nikka anyway with no culture or pride" I was floored to say the least. Didn't read the whole thing but I like when people tell their stories of growth and how they overcame something because there are many more people still in that situation or mindset. So while people may laugh or chide the writer, this story wasn't for u in the first place. It's for those that still need their "wake up call".
