That's a good description. Honestly when I listen to WSG projects I don't pay that much attention to the lyrics. I might get flamed for that but I basically think of his voice as another part of the instrumental and just kind of vibe out to it. I'm not saying I don't listen to the bars but I don't actively hang on every word. I just kind of take in the whole soundscape. That might've sounded like some stoner talk but that's the best way I can describe it.
no doubt. that's what brothers in this thread need to understand off top about WSG when it comes to lyrics. he's not a bar intensive rapper. telling me he got washed by sauce walka, his bro or benny the problem is like telling me biz markie got murked by big daddy kane. or that greg nice can't fukk with his man smooth b. same can be said with snoop & kurupt, ODB & GZA and juicy j & lord infamous. gunn is from that cloth man. it's about his style and not the writing per say. which is why in hip hop we care more about run dmc than we do the treacherous three. them nikkas ain't never been able to write on treacherous level. keep it gully, Run and D got bodied on Graffiti Rock man. but style? can't nobody fukk with them nikkas man, word
and you shouldn't hang on every word when it comes to all rap music. we don't wanna get extreme with that like the youngn's and their love for all things blueface, juicewrld & playboi carti lmao. but nah check it though..... sure sometimes i wanna break down 2006 lu fiasco double entendres but other times i just want straight forward rhymes from project pat. that like you said, is part of the instrumental. we ain't talking non-existent like the homie sheck wes mind you, but just not at the forefront of the musical experience. shout out to 1998-2007 N.O.R.E. who fits this perfectly
