I assume he's talking about Boldy James and Armani Caesar? Armani ain't my cup of tea, but he's wrong about Boldy. Most people are. I listened to Boldy for years and never really was a big fan until his Tea of China album early this year. Boldy's an incredible emcee. His style may not be for everyone, but real recognize real, and cats would be surprised how many of their favorite rappers love Boldy. Nas loves Boldy, and Boldy is Jay-Z's favorite emcee right now, and Tea in China is Jay's favorite album of the year. It's an easy AOTY contender.

Boldy's got a monotone delivery, so if you don't like those kind of emcees you might not like Boldy, but he's truly getting to be on some effortless rhyming with a lot of creative pockets/flows/cadences, and bars with hidden meanings. If you haven't checked much for Boldy, don't base your opinion on Versace Tape. He did that as a favor to Gunn. He picked zero beats on it, and I don't think he put as much effort into it. The Price of Tea in China is the album to listen to. I promise the game is gonna look back on that album as one of the most slept on albums of this decade. It's like a 2020 Reasonable Doubt through the eyes of Detroit.

I've seen a lot of posters whose opinions I love on here go from not liking Boldy to being big fans, and others still not catch on yet. He's likely not gonna catch you right away, but when he does, you'll be glad you paid more attention. Boldy has a bright future in the game.

And matter of fact, :jbhmm: Stove God Cooks is about to be the next Griselda signee and also dropped an AOTY contender in Resonable Drought. So Anklejohn's take is stupid as fukk.

:hubie: rant over.

Boldy James got one of the most acclaimed, buzzed about rap albums of the year in Price of Tea in China. Ankhlejohn is fine but I don't think he's in any position to talk about x-factor

Armani is cool to me and Boldy's been legit. :manny:

Personally, I think there's something to be said for not everyone on the label being a commercially viable finished article, from jump.

Watching artists grow has always been one of my favourite things about hip-hop. It's different now that everyone is on social media 24 hours a day, I guess, but is used to be that you hear from an artist you fukk with every couple of years on an album, and you get to watch them evolve through guest features and the odd soundtrack, in between.

If Gunn is looking to prove his ear - it speaks better of him to take artists who are a bit rough around the edges and get them to pop, rather than getting in a bidding war for someone who's hot right now and all the labels are trying to court.

Speaking of which - Stovegod Cooks - that guy seems tailor made for Griselda, but between his links with Lord Jamar, Busta and Roc Marci - shyt might get complicated.

Take this rep! Everything you said seems to have been forgetting by many. Everyone expects everyone to be amazing right from the jump. It used to be considered a good thing to A&R artists, and watch them improve and grow. That shyt has always been one of the most fun things about hip-hop to me. Some of my favorite emcees are artists that I used to not like even a little bit. Evidence, Currensy, Ross, and even DOOM (:snoop:I know) are just several examples.

Cats need to learn to see the bigger picture and not expect everyone to be amazing out of the gate. Sean Price had to reinvent himself to become the best artist he could be. Roc Marci took over a decade to find his most artistic lane. It's been fun to watch Boldy James rhyming sills catch up to his ear for production.

I think it's more boring to just see who can sign people that are already so hot that they don't need to develop at all. :manny:

Edit: Oh yeah. Busta and Roc both seem pretty cool with Griseda, so I think the Stove God situation could be fine.

Don't know either of those two dudes, but Armani's album and nice and she's been down with them since 2011, and the Boldy album that was produced by Jay Versace was cool but the previous one was better. And that Stove God dude is an animal. So who exactly was dude talking about?

that's a long winded way of saying they are not versatile.

the thing with grizelda crew and the people like Roc Marci, Boldy, Gibbs etc is they can do it all. That's what separates them... not on the same level.
I actually think Benny can possibly be bier than anyone listed there, except maybe Gibbs. This upcoming album produced by Hit-Boy will tell us a lot. Drake, Wayne, and Ross are all on there, I think. Benny has more crossover potential than I think a lot of people realize.

I never thought Conway had much of any crossover appeal, but after how well his new album King to a God has been received (from all sides of the hip-hop world) I'm starting to think he might have at least some more crossover potential than I thought. Not as much as Benny, but more than I ever thought. He expanded his production and he didn't focus so heavily on just the super-goon bars.

He’s definitely talking about Boldy, Armani, and possibly Steve God since he’s likely to be signed soon and was all over Awesome God 2.

Theres always YouTube. Normally I would've post that guys Music when asked but sometimes it better for the person that inquired to truly find out on there own. More rewarding. Oan if
That's all you took from the dialogue within this thread c'mon breh: Bad shape. And really it's a rhetorical question that doesn't need answering. Cant do anything but shake my head at this.

just to add to this its the most pathetic thing i can read on a hiphop forum aside from trolling

my favorite is when nggaz ask for clarification on shyt they can look up

@Tommy Lee Jones @Amestafuu (Emeritus)
@Max Goonberg

phrases like "i never heard of them" is played out with everything else analog

No they are not. and this says everything about your opinion. Those dudes are destined to be dusty rehash bring it back rap. They not elevating shyt. Fahim sound like he stuck in a 90's cypher somwhere... no growth and very low ceiling. Mach fukking with Droog... nothing else to say :laff:

Boldy makes listenable music for wider audience in the same lane as the Grizelda dudes. Armani is family. These nikkaz fronted on the movement early and they been stagnant since. They haven't grown in parallel. what does that say?

that statement in OP is the typical shyt you see when people start out on the same level and some of em get left behind... feelings start getting aired out.
Bro that mach and fahim nikkaz are terrible....off beat ass music

I thought Stove God was signed to Roc Marci?
:leon: just googled. He's signed to Busta actually. I'd heard he was gonna sign with Griselda but maybe not. He'd definitely gonna be working with them more in the future though.

One of my favorite underrated Griselda joints has Stove God Cooks and Busta on it, actually. And Nottz on the beat (who Busta helped make his name too.) Classic Extinction era Busta hook. The bassline is just stupid on this, and Cooks' verse is ridiculous.

Interesting. I just assumed it was Roc Marci since he produced his entire project.
