One thing to say an artist doesn't have that it factor, but to say "Westside Gunn has lost his genius" :skip: on the internet like you tryna kill someone's buzz they worked hard for

Then act fake surprised when you get a reaction

Not at all. I should’ve been clear it’s nothing but a rumor. And I googled and he’s signed to Busta right now. So maybe not. But he should he working with them more in 2021 either way. He was the main thing I liked about Awesome God 2.

He’s been signed to Busta since he was Aaron Cooks. He’s a member of The Conglomerate.

Busta has a good relationship with Roc Marci, even after the Flipmode days. He put Cooks under Marci’s wing for artist development. It worked. Roc knows how to curate shyt

Now I forsee Stovegod working with Griselda as like an auxiliary member, not signed to the label, in an effort to help brand him. They’re probably working on some type of arrangement.

That’s great that Busta put him under Roc’s wing. Did you hear the album Roc produced for XP the Marxman this year? No one really talked about it on here.

saying someone lost their genius is funny.

Boldy project with Jay Versace misses its mark. you can put the blame with Gunn on that one if you want since it was his idea.
its not bad, its not great, its just fine. on paper it should work nicely but it cancel's itself out.

Boldy is interesting MC but he can come off boring. you need to make beats that suit his pace but also build on it, thats why Alchemist and Chuck Inglish work so well with him. Boldy just over nice little loops was just too one paced.

biggest compliment I can give them in regards to Armani is that she wasn't on any of the great stuff and they kept her in the tuck till they could buy her the make over. I haven't listened to her album yet, not in any rush to. I saw a clip and it did nothing for me. got to have that sex appeal right off the bat for me especially when you're doing a stiff rehash of the Kim/Foxy's stuff.

sidenote, Ankhlejohn's Wisdom Equality/Knowledge Born and Knowledge/Understanding EP's are really great.

Lastly to address his point
- that Boldy/Versace album was weak - mainly cause of Versace beats
- the Armani chick is :russell:
- that other new artist Gunn put on YN Billy is :hhh:

so I understand where John coming from, but things can change once these artists drop some fiyah (I forsee Boldy doing this):ehh:

These throwback, boutique rap cats stay talking smack to each other over Twitter when there's maybe 100,000 people tops that care about their music (myself included). Its such a small scene I don't get it

Again, it's just funny to me that Anklejohn thinks Boldy has no "it factor' when he's Jay-Z's favorite rapper right now.

What does this really mean though? All the Griselda cats and even a lot smaller artists in the street-hop lane are eating very well in 2020.

The margins on vinyl and to a lesser extent, CD sales, are very good. They're moving lots of vinyl. Shirts, hoodies, and other merch are doing great too. Touring is great in 2020 due to Covid, but most of the Roc Marci, Ka, Griselda, and similar artists are doing well financially.

man i dont give 1 shiit if an artist has "it" factor, can crossover, any of that other shiit. im just a fan of the music, that other shiit is for them to figure out.
as fans i dont see a reason to care about this

imo does West still make good music...yes
Conway...yes
Benny...yes
Boldy...yes
Armani....still dont know, wasn't that impressed by her debut

i'll clarify. they'll live very comfortably like any artist with a decent fan base. but we all know they wanna be much bigger than that. last year they was talking about they are doing better than tde, the got a loooong way to go business wise but i admire the confidence and wish them the best
