This isn't 1998, no one with a decent buzz should be signing with any of these labels now. Especially if they already have their own imprint. But a lot of rappers still look for the affiliation and think that's going to help them sell. They didn't even need to ink anything up with Em. In 2017, Griselda was already bubbling. That's bad business on their part because now Shady gets to reap the benefits of having them as signees, without even having to do anything more than the bare minimum, as the label.
Blaming the label for not doing what you want them to do, doesn't fly these days. It's 2020, if you have an established name, signing with a label should be the last thing you're doing, unless you just want a quick little advance check.
