Yeah that shady deal is a move they will regret...i give it a year until they either cut they losses and move on or they start dissing the label due to unhappiness...mark my words !
I really hope not, and I have some confidence that it'll be okay, because it's just a distribution deal. Also, Westside Gunn said he was working on the deal for over a year, wanted full creative control, and he seems like a smart guy, and not someone to make a stupid deal.
On the other hand, Shady/Interscope has never really been a good place for anyone in the long run, so I also have a nagging feeling that it's not going to be a great deal.
I'm 50/50 on it. I think they'll keep creative control, but I just don't want projects getting jammed up. Griselda has good momentum and the time to strike is now, because the iron is hot. They need to make sure that G.O.A.T. drops this year, and ideally Hall & Nash 2. If they can drop both of those this year, then I'll feel better about the deal.
