What does Biden's "comfort" have to do with a potential lawsuit?

If those families have a valid civil case on their hands then they have a valid civil case.
The only real question is does a foreign national have jurisdiction to bring suit against a foreign state(in this case the U.S.).

I agree. Illegal immigration is a hot button topic though, so of course people are going to be pissed if those migrants receive any form of payout as some people think that they shouldn't be here in the first place.

They easily could. They talking 450k per person not per family in the original report. So even if they reduced it down to 200k per person that's still 600k for a 3 person family that was separated.

there's a technicality in the sense that the government is admitting to wrong doing because they took actions that were illegal at the time they were undertaken.

litigation for slavery post abolition would have to deal with slavery post abolition not pre... so it has to be a litigation brought forward based on civil laws not criminal. either way it should happen. even if it has to go through the U.N.
