8-11: i would help my mom with meals like I would make the pasta or the rice and veggies with her watching me.

12: i learned how to make simple stuff like spaghetti, lasagna (homemade), tacos, meatloaf, veggies, Mac and cheese (baked) cakes etc. This is when I started being in charge of dinner for like Wednesday & Thursday nights.

13/14: “harder” stuff like fried chicken, papusas, tamales, ice cream, gumbo, jambalaya, thanksgiving/Christmas/Easter dinner. Steaks etc me and my sisters would make the big meals when family came over because my mom either worked all day or was tired from work the day before.

Daddy had me peeling potatoes at 9

I was making Kraft mac and cheese for my baby sister at 12/13 started adding coconut milk and sausage into it.

Daddy started giving me instructions from work on the phone at 15. He would still cuss me if it turned out wrong.

Daddy:"Did you put fish seasoning on the lamb chops?"
Me: " Yes daddy!

17-18ish I had man but still couldn't cook for shyt.

Tbh I really started cooking around 23 ish. 9 years later and the kitchen doesn't terrify me at all. I was going to make rice crispy treats and genuinely considered making the marshmallows from scratch. My sister was like "you know you can buy those right?"

Id say around 6 ...passed the same on to my son around 4 i would have him in the kitchen with me. His stepmom is really good with him in the baking arena so he is pretty well rounded. He is 11 now and loves cooking he makes up his own recipes and stuff lol.

If Jamaicans can cook a cows foot and make it taste nice, I'll take your word for it. That limeaid with the brown sugar is the shyt!!!

like 10 learning how to make breakfast...really was only breakfast until my senior year in college...i went off my meal plan and my dorm had a kitchen so i started experimenting..then when i moved out of my parents house...i really began trial and error on how to cook..esp important since i was in the gym heavy and wanted to make sure i ate right instead of spending eating out every night...and now i cook pretty good if i dont say so myself
