Lyndon Johnson got all that credit but it was Kennedy plan in his second term to get things even Eisenhower wanted done. Smartest thing Kennedy had going for him was the one person who was in the senate with him and had the power to stop (and did) any real civil rights legislation under Eisenhower was his VP by choice his real VP was his brother.

The Kennedy brothers had zero experience legislating and would've never gotten the votes for the Civil Rights Act or Voting Rights Act or Fair Housing Act or the Great Society programs.

LBJ literally blackmailed and threatened other Southern Democrats into these things.

Kennedy would've been a completely failed president, had he lived.

LBJ just did a lite version of what FDR did... that legislation helped white folk more than anyone.

Black poverty was halved under LBJ.

The Fair Housing Act created millions of Black homeowners.

The Civil Rights Act created opportunities for millions of people.

And the Voting Rights Act is the reason that we could have a "Black" president 40 years later.

Why do you think that Nixon, Reagan, Clinton, & Bush spent 40 years undoing everything in those bills?

Because they were effective.

Just look at the amount of progress Black people were making until the Reagan era started & undid all of it.

Well, there's a 19th Century answer and a 20th Century answer.

The answer is easy for the 19th Century in Andrew Johnson, who literally tried to undo the Emancipation Proclamation and is the reason we had Jim Crow for 100 years after

In the 20th Century is more complex.

Nixon started the War on Drugs, which has destroyed millions of Black lives and started the undoing of the Great Society programs that helped us get jobs and assistance, but Reagan expanded the War on Drugs, destroyed unions, of which Black people had the highest membership in, and started sending jobs overseas and helping the banks start destroying our communities through foreclosures.

And then Clinton comes along and ramps up all the stuff Reagan and Bush did with the War on Drugs, and the banks, and ended "Welfare as we know it" and his Telecommunications Act of 1996 is what destroyed a lot of Black media ownership.

It's not Obama and it's not Trump, who are both too late in the game. We're already fukked:francis:

Hayes over Johnson. Johnson was thwarted by a veto proof Congress (who were one vote away from impeaching him). Hayes guaranteed another 70 years of hell for black people in the South.

Honorable mentions to Wilson, Nixon and Reagan.

Kennedy is really freaking overrated. He only became president because of his rich daddy with mafia ties. Bay of Pigs was a disaster, he escalated American involvement in Vietnam before LBJ, and he had no serious investment in the Civil Rights movement. Bobby later cared but JFK never saw it as much more the nuisance. The Civil Rights Bill would not have been as strong under him.

Andrew Johnson, we'd likely numerous wealthy ADOS multi-millionaires/billionaires and a upwardly mobile middle class of we got our 40 acres.

Understand cotton was king in 1865, we knew how to grow it and other crops, our land allotments would've likely lead to multiple ADOS clothing manufacturers.

Also, the land we was suppose to get, was going to be on the South-Easr coast(prime real estate by the water).

Can someone explain this to me? I know this is black Twitter so maybe I should just walk away, but I'm so damn curious as to what is going on in this video.

│ The lady said 'bytch don't nobody care who Emmett Till is"

│ The guy in the video is saying that the efforts of Ronald Reagan and the CIA to 'psy-op' the black community into welcoming its own oppression are successful.

│ If this still doesn't make sense to you, here's the wikipedia article on Emmett Till: Emmett Till - Wikipedia

│ Needless to say, everybody should know who Emmett Till is, and that bytch Carolyn Bryant too.
