What are all these black academics doing with their credentials these days?

Nothing at the macro level but tons of little victories here or there. Nothing that will tumble capitalism, economic apartheid and fascism. The dialogue they create is a gate way for many Blacks to gain knowledge of self but that dialogue is rarely purposeful action.

Who knows? Maybe they will *inspire* those Blacks who actually liberate us.

IMO cats like Jason Black and Tariq are inspiring more of the younger gen than the current gen of "black intellects". Outside of that the internet is allowing our gen to read up on old school intellectuals that the education dont tell us about, imo Majority of the Black "intellects" that come on MSNBC and stuff every week are useless if you ask me. We can "have the dialog" all day that White supremacy is bad, but your black academic types aren't doing anything in the sense of using their positions of high visibility to create plans of action for those who are lost and dont understand the beast of white supremacy.

Think you're going to end systematic white supremacy without the internet playing a big part in 2015 brehs :mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::mjlol::russ::russ:

be dumb and think hashtags activism to shame people who are racist by nature will make a difference brehs

Twitter hashtags are only being used to shame people who really dont care about black dying which is why mofos are still getting killed.

They don't understand economics and government well enough to guide.

pretty much, many of them are highly educated but have no real world skills applying what they are educated in. To make things worst these types get phds and go teach at ivy league or PWIs where there aren't even many black kids for them to shape the minds of. Cats are useless imo. I give props to cats like Marc Lamont Hill who teaches at Morehouse (I believe he still does), but even with people like him he doesn't have a track record of accomplishing tangible things that will make a difference. Now we do need academia in black society but like I said, our so called best and brightest usually dont even teach at black universities.

Tariq and Jason Black have the reliability to the layman but they are not educated enough to create any meaningful objective

Black academics have the education to create but often they either are cowards/sell outs or can't reach the common man

The people who will change Black people's situations aren't *just* these people but our bankers, economist, presidents, governors, scientist and engineers but most of all, a restless Black underclass. It all plays a part so I don't think its fair to put the weight of Black liberation on Black academics' backs.

What exactly are black "academics" learning that will empower them to create anything?

hegemonic structure, economic systems, state formation, Black and African history, history of counter culture, social and revolutionary movements and organization, etc

Are they starting businesses? Running for office? Becoming lawyers or doctors or policy makers?

What are they doing besides philosophizing and trying to make theological connections between entirely unrelated concepts?

I mean hell, someone like Michelle Alexander and her book The New Jim Crow at least has stats and facts to back her arguments up...and she's a lawyer so she can put things into action.

Do they like to hear themselves talk? Do they think that them talking is doing enough?
Real shyt, what do you actually EXPECT academics to do other than talk and study and learn and try to teach?

The issue a lot of Black people have is we expect for some of our people to do everything when that's not going to be the case. Black academics essentially do what a lot of white academics do... they stay in academia. You can't expect somebody who went through the trouble of getting a Ph.D to be the warrior on the front line starting the revolution. And I really don't expect these people to start businesses, or really do shyt of financial significance at all... because if they had that type of drive or mindset chances are they wouldn't have spent 20+ years in school.

And OP, essentially all a lot of us do on this site is just talk so :yeshrug:

Not at all...... It was just vague grandiose posting.......

I mean.... hegemonic structure? In America? :dead: You will have to fill in a shyt ton of details to get someone to even sit down and listen to what you'd have to say.... and I mean a shyt ton
