I'm mad nobody mentioned Ronnie Garvin back in the NWA days. All the top names refused to win the title as they all knew they were going to be transitional champs and going to lose it back to Flair at Starrcade. So they put the belt on Garvin who I think over the course of 4 or so months never defended the belt since all the other wrestlers refused to face him as he was considered a joke. Of course he dropped it right back to Flair at Starrcade.

i think i have to agree about punk.

if you had the belt and you weren't the main event, then you were a transitional champion.

no coincidence that the moment rock and cena entered the title picture, the belt started main eventing again.

He kinda was. He was never presented as a big deal and was playing second fiddle to super cena all 2012 seemingly just to fill time until rock vs cena 2 could build up

He was being bumped down for Laurinaitis vs. Cena. :mjlol:

Bret harts 24 hour reign when he won it in a fatal four pay per view and lost it the next night against Psycho Sid.

The crazy thing about this was it was supposed to be Austin who won the fatal four way and then dropped the title to Sid the next night due to interference from Bret.

But Austin injured himself half way through the match and an ending was changed on the fly.

Probably best it worked out that way as it made Austin winning it at WM 14 all the more special.

When Vince was commentating around this time, you could hear the disdain in his Voice how much the crowd loved Austin.
