My uncle received a warning about downloading copyrighted materials and contacted me about it. I've been using his connection for many years and never had a problem, but for the first time ever I downloaded a movie off torrent that hadn't been released yet on retail - Catching Fire, Thor 2, and Frozen back to back to back.

I'm pretty sure since I've been torrenting almost every tv show I watch and albums I listen to for almost a decade that I may just need to avoid downloading unreleased movies, but I want to be sure. My Uncle is a serious ass, but I don't want the guy getting in trouble because of something I'm doing. At the same token, it's hard to just stop downloading shows when you've been doing it for so long - at least until I get DVR upon moving out. I don't even have HBO or Showtime - two of my go to stations for TV shows in recent years.

You guys ever got one of these letters brehs? What precautions did you take in response?

I think peer block might help you avoid getting caught again.

If they want you to log into a site and pay a fee, then they are copyright trolls.

DONT IGNORE THOSE WARNINGS. LAWYER UP AND CONTACT the MPAA/RIAA ASAP.

my cousin got that same notices from his ISP and chose to ignore ignore them. FBI ran up in his crib, seized everything and hes locked up in jail STILL waiting for trial.

stop using public torrents. limewire and bearshare are the safest and smartest ways to download.

i think as long as an IP rights defense group is also a part of the torrent, you can get caught. the uploader doesnt even matter. every time you seed, you give something to other users-that's where you can get caught
