What are the official rules to playing a pick-up game of 21?

We played FT line when we were young, but once in our teens it was always a 3pt shoop

Nah ya'll just playing with ya'll set rules. In VA everyone I knew shot from the free throw line and the last shot to get 21 was always the one shot from the 3.

I doubt you can hit a 24 shot consistently. Me and my nikkas games are good. I got a couple of homies who have even balled overseas.

Its a free shot nobody's checking you. If you're in rhythm it's nothing to put away 3 shots from the center of the arch.

Once you made 3 free throws in a row, defense was allowed again

Everything is 1, sometimes nikkas switch it up and make threes worth two

Airball from ft = back to zero

When you hit 21, you had to ice the game by hitting another ft, if you missed you went back to 18

If you travel, whoever called it first got ball up top - same with obvious flagrant fouls.
If you get tied up, y'all are tied up until y'all ain't tied up no mo lol. Step you rip game up.
We shot FTs at the damn FT line!
And you had to clear it if you rebounded a brick.

Finally someone who knows how 21 is mostly played. The free throw shot is just that a free throw shot.

Where I'm from we played 33 but they play 21 in a lot of other cities. When you have game point, you have to shoot beyond the three point line; almost at half court.

If you played in a high school gym like most peeps you weren't shooting a legit NBA three unless you took like three steps back.. And a great NBA shooter only shoots around 40 percent from three. So im not about to believe that you and your homies were nailing them like that. But either way the way ya'll played is not the usual way that 21 is played.

all that sounds like utah never heard of 21 unless we playin to 21 lol. everything was worth 5, game 100 and to win you had to hit all 3 fts and a 3 in a row after hittin 100 if i remember right. none of that settin points back shyt. same kind of rules with the free throws all net no backboards. im thinkin "take" was like sayin "hails". beyond that all this is

I know what you were saying bruh. But a ft is an easier shot than a 3. So it's only logical that the game would be longer if you are shooting your free throws from the 3 spot.

You nikkas shooting free throws. Where I'm at the 1 pointers are from the three point line and if you got 20 and miss you go back to 15 and if you fukk up three times at 20 you go back to zero.

And it's not about it being a regulation 3, it's whatever 3 it is on that court.

First shot, @ 3pt range is 3 pts.
Every shot counts as 2 and after each made shot, u take a free throw (either 3 or shoot 'til you miss) that counts as 1

Once you get to 21 (from 18-20), you can only win with a 2 @ 19 pts or if you 20, you gotta take a 3 to win it
