REAL TALK

IN NO ORDER:

--- when all the labels ended up under 2 umbrellas.

--- when radio ended up under 2 umbrellas for the most part

--- when Viacom bought up all the video stations.

--- when the hip-hop community ignored benzino's warnings, and zino & dave mays ended up being ousted from the source as well.

--- the influx of the industry plants

very contradictory statements in the bolded.
Is no limit a prominent label signing hot artists? Who’s really doing that you got Jay and Ye and their counterparts. I felt like no limit was an unnecessary version of cash money with way less star power. Maybe snoop needed no limit to run away from suge but that’s it.

-Phife Dawg's death.
-The release of Revival.
-Kanye's fall from grace.
-Drake, the biggest rapper in the game, getting away with having ghostwriers.
-Lil Wayne saying that racism doesn't exist and not understanding Black Lives Matter. "My life matters." :scust:

DISHONORABLE MENTIONS: Post Malone's interview where he openly disrespects the genre he makes his money in, Macklemore beating Kendrick for all those Grammys

Everywhere...You never there.
DMX crying on Drink Champs

Ended up being inspirational tho...

But people are posting really good stuff ... as J-Live prophetically said on the “Best Part” yeeeears ago, Rap is still the “Proverbial sad clown of music / Exploited by many, understood by few...”.

My gosh :wow:

But a few of my tops aside from the obvious untimely deaths, Uber corporitization of the game and consolidation of non black controlling influences, lack of ownership, mumbling, hard drug worship, demonic, occult influence, just the battybwoi shyt in general :snoop:, white rappers just explicitly shytting on the “culture” :smh:

1. The shocking, disheartening details of Guru’s and Solaar’s relationship :to: ... somebody shoulda been checked Solaar. :snoop: Sad our legend had to go out like that...

2. Bambatty and KRS co-signing him :snoop: :hhh: (he should have his spokesman status permanently revoked... and both should be excommunicated from hip hop )

3. Dungeon Fam break up

4. DOC’s car wreck and losing his voice

5. The death of vinyl

6. The erosion of the elements aside from rap

7. X’s struggles

8. NYC being irrelevant and likely never to be relevant again

9. Lauryn losing her mind after MisEducation

10. The utter disrespect of hip hop’s architects

(Edit: Honorable mention to the Beans falloff and punctuation with the KO... shyt was so sad)

... damn y’all , rap is truly a sad genre ... can barely fukk with this shyt anymore .:hhh:

I'd have to think about the other 3, but Prodigy and Sean Price's deaths had me feeling some kinda way, cause the shyt seemed so random.

I mean you could see/hear Sean's health declining in his bars, but still.

Big Pun, too, now that I think about it.

Not that you didn't expect it at some point cause of his weight, but for him to die, then we got that happy go lucky single off "Yeah Baby". "I just lost 100 pounds! I'm tryin' ta LIVE! I ain't goin NOWHERE!"

I guess Prodigy
Price
Pun
Pimp
and Tha Jacka. This bothered me more than Big L. Just that time in my life, I guess.

Honorable mention to Mac Dre's death (I only got into his music like a year after he died. I was more sad because I felt I missed something great)
Big L's death
Nate's death
Slim's death
BG going to jail...... again
Big and Pac (see my note on Big L dying. I didn't feel anything for a good minute. I hit the :mjcry: first time I saw the vid for "Until the End of Time")

Non Death?

Mos Def losing that grammy to Wayne
Wyclef putting it out there that Lauryn stole production credit, it being revealed as true a while later
Kanye's 180
Guru/Solaar wtf
Afrika Bambatta being a gay pedo and KRS co-signing
EDIT:
KRS didn't co-sign him being a gay pedo. He said it wouldn't erase what he did for hip hop.
Mystikal literally being the p*ssy Crook and going on the run right after he got national exposure again
Azealia not shutting the fukk up.
