He gets plenty of credit and recognition, but I think people undervalue how good of a player - and mostly, how SMART of a player - Jason Kidd really was.

When people talk about what happened to that Knick team a few years ago that made the second round and then fell off instantly the next season, and blame Melo or blame whoever, the real reason they fell off was Kidd left.

isiah thomas (zeke) does not get enough credit imo despite his legacy as the 2nd greatest point guard ever. what he achieved with the pistons for a player of his size was unprecedented. he went toe to toe with the star studded celtics and lakers and made Jordan and pippen cry like a bytch. the fact that he doesn't get any consideration in the top 10 nba players of all time list conversation is absurd. His leadership, consistency, durability and accolades should put him in this kind of discussions.

The way people been preaching all this wax poetic about Spo and the Heat and how he deserves COTY you'd think they're at least above .500. nikka they're 37 and 40 and just dropped back to back games to the Knicks and Nuggets. :rudy:
Exactly, same time look how ignored Kidd is as a coach.
Got the Nets to the playoffs and now has the BUcks in the playoffs after losing Jabari.

I think Clyde Drexler is criminally underrated because of the Jordan NBA promotion to where he isn't even routinely recognized as a top 3 SG in NBA history when he should be. IMHO

That Pistons team as a whole, to me, doesn't get the credit they deserve. Yeah, everybody remembers them, and celebrates them to an extent, but they're more looked at as the team Jordan had to overcome and beat on the way to his dynasty, and the insinuation has always been that they were only winning because of dirty play. Isiah should be celebrated as maybe the greatest triumph in NBA history because of his size, the fact that he and they ALSO overcame MORE obstacles than those Bulls teams, and the fact that he scaled his own game back for the betterment of the team and winning titles. Especially when an argument can be made that the only reason those Bulls teams became what they were is because the Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, etc., fell off. He is everything people talk about wanting from their athletes.

But saying that Bird would just be another one of the guys pretty much doomed his fate/legacy in the media, and that Knicks thing sealed the deal. :yeshrug:

I will say this, though, when you see Isiah on NBA TV and on TNT, you can tell how much other PLAYERS revere him; guys like C. Webb, Baron, KG, Steve Smith, Bosh, etc., who were great players and champions in their own right and some HOF status themselves, treat him like a god.

Think of how hard you'd laugh if some 5'3" little guy tried to join your high school team. You would crack up. I ain't never seen no 5'3" man in a high school game.

We're talking about high school. :aicmon:

And here you have a 5'3" baller who plays in the NBA for 14 years, starts over 500 games, finishes with nearly 7,000 career points and 7,000 career assists, over 1300 career steals.

Top-20 all-time in assists in NBA history. Top-50 all-time in steals in NBA history. The GOAT assist-to-turnover ratio in NBA history.

And 39 career blocks. How they hell 39 NBA players get blocked by a guy who 5'3"?

We'll see another Lebron before we see another Muggsy.

Isiah Thomas a top 10 player? Clyde Drexler a top 3 SG? :rudy:

Scotty Brooks, as a player development guy and defensive coach he is great. He got too much heat because of his offensive sets, but it's not easy with two ball dominant guys like KD/Westbrook. He's done a great job with Washington this year.

Shawn Marion not making an All-NBA Defensive Team in his career is absurd.

Tony Romo was a great QB, every metric points towards it but he gets nowhere near the respect he deserves because of playoff success.

Manu Ginobili sacrificed a lot on the Spurs, he's one of the best passing SG's ever, underrated defender in his prime, he'll make the HoF, handprints all over James Harden's game.

Sidney Moncrief should be in the HoF.
