Yes and TLC used to actually have educational content, I learned SOOOOOO much from those networks. Now the only thing you'd learn is how to get a 600lb human through a doorway :francis:

G4.

The first incarnation was dying right as YouTube and Twitch were taking off, and even while it was alive the first time it struggled to compete with the rise of video podcasts and streaming.

Then the second incarnation crashed and burned in less than a year because it couldn't navigate the current landscape of content creation--it tried to do TV, YouTube and Twitch, not realizing that those are three different platforms with three very different audiences and three very different ways to make content.

Viacom fukked up because they don’t have most of their older shows in some sort of backup storage. They would essentially record/tape over existing reels so tons of original footage and episodes are lost forever.
well damn this makes a lot sense

MTV got hoed out by Youtube. Now you can watch any music video you want for the most part.

Really Viacom in general and this coming from someone who used to work for MTV they did not future proof any of that shyt. Almost none of those MTV shows from the 90's and 2000s are in their archives.
That’s kind of hard to believe nobody can’t get access to shows from the 90s/2000s

Ay, I know this is off topic, but what was that like working for MTV?
