Artistically Beyonce is on MJ Elvis Beatles level breh. Say what you want....but shorty grounded and grinded her ass off to get where she at. And actually has the talent and passion to stay on her throne.
I fukks with both artist...Lauaryn more because her music speaks to the soul (the Unplugged album is highly slept on in this thread)....but Beyonce is top tier in damn near every field...Lauryn is a blessed talent. But Beyonce is a muthafukking beast breh.

I mean it was a long stretch being gone for that long. I also heard about her being sued by a writing team allegedly claiming they wrote her whole album
This. I just flat out think she wasn't as talented as "they" wanted us to think she was but she was super marketable. I think she crossed the line by edging her writing team out of the credit they deserved and she/Sony had to pay them out in the settlement.
The whole industry thing didn't seem like it was her lane and the strangeness around her marriage only added to her image getting distorted. But you gotta put the bulk of her fall squarely on her. She did that wack ass unplugged album and from there it was straight downhill.
If she took the time to make a good follow up to Miseducation, the fans woulda stuck with her

Oh they're around but just won't deal with her ass anymore. They got a few mil from her and the label after the lawsuit so why even bother dealing with her ass when she's KNOWN to take all the credit.

- the allegations of ghostwriting
- she felt out of control of her image (read an interview in like 03/04 where she talked about not being able to pick up her baby after makeup and word rob was done, people scheduling crazy shyt like eyebrow arching in her "down time", etc) she's not built for fame
- not putting out a legit follow up, I still don't think she has a true second album. People got tired of waiting on her, she was the original Detox
- the crazy relationship with Rohan, drained her artistically and helped make her crazy, in addition to her female fans looking at her like
while she was chasing this dude who dogged her out, it's akin to the way women looked at Alicia keys after swizz- the ego driven performances: showing up late or not at all, butchering her songs into unrecognizable renditions, etc

Btw if you didn't see her prior to 02, you haven't seen lauryn. I actually went to the miseducation tour in 2000 (or 99, whatever), her and Outkast, she was phenomenal. It's a shame where she has fallen to. Saw her 3-4 years ago and damn near got in a fight with my friends telling them we needed to leave, that's how bad she was.
