I remember late 90's - early 2000's the streets wasn't fukking with nikkas with mohawks. If you had a mohawk you was gonna get roasted and clowned. nikkas for some reason were too tough to accept mohawks as a cool acceptable hairstyle. I remember Game getting a mohawk and G-Unit would clown him on records for it. Now as I'm older I'm like wtf was the big deal about it. So what was it?

Those are burst fades. Mowhawks were in during the late 2000s actually.

Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster
Had a "faux"-hawk since 2008.

People always axe when i'm gonna change up my look, but i've always had since iteration of it for the past decade, but the whole concept of "business in the front and party in the back" has always ultimately been my do's aesthetic set-up.

Remember back in the mid two-thousand teens (2012-16) when it was somewhat fading from the masses... i still kept it because I enjoyed the look.

Y'all recall when Kanye had a bi-level during his 808's era?

Even emulated that look by widening the hawk-section in the rear and basically transitioned it in a mullet (to which, i had for the past 3 months and actually just went back to semi-faux this past weekend).

Long story short, as long as my old ass still has this hair line, i will always contain this look. And plus, it's a great convo piece for the ladies.

That trend started back during that whole rock star era. OBJ didn’t start that. Think about this nikka back in 08

Yes shyt was corny but that transitioned into what we have today. All those LSU players had like the same hairstyle

This thread wasn't really about who started it, but I'll let y'all cook
You need to stop playing fukkING stupid with this thread premise.
You know dsmn well the Mohawk in the 80s ans 90s was deeply associated with WHITE PUNK ROCKERS and Metal Heads.the opposite of The general Black American aesthetic of the 70s through 90s.

And don't get on your" but but but there was Black punk rockers too!" The general Black aesthetic was not rock it was RAP and urban.

Black people in the 80s 90s generally didn't want to be associated with the rock aesthetic.
