What did you think of Drake as alyricist before the ghost writer shyt surfaced?

I thought his raps were decent. Verses like stay scheming impressed but mostly thought he was average. But something was always fishy and there was always allegations

Yea that album had a different feel to it, we never heard Drake as raw and aggressive as he was on that project. Plus his “pen” game wasn’t the same as his previous albums. I’m not gonna sit here and lie to say I admit bumping it cause I was. Maybe he needed a new direction and that’s where the writers came in to help.
He sounded more sure of himself. Confident. He used to have multiple insecure bars when I think about it. The bar on “Lord Knows” about going through a chicks phone? :hhh:

Yea there were some songs where he sounded doubtful, the one you just mentioned with that line is one. The Resistance & Fear might be others.
