you can dj visually IF you know your tracks because you can see the wave form and see the kick, snare, vocals etc... most old school dj's with serato dont need headphones. but them wak mufukkas in the video are def trash.
How you mixing and fading and cueing shyt up tho unless you have headphones? That's cause they not doing any of that shyt prolly press play on a playlist. I mean these Guys aren't hip hop anyway but any hip hop dj gonna use hewdphones

I used to spin before all the technology when I carried crates to the club and have since I got Serato Scratch. If you are not manipulating a record, you're not a DJ in my eyes. Playing a mix you created at home on your computer and played at a live event is garbage. I'll take some Premier, Pete Rock over any of these EDM DJs and that crap music.

you can see everything with digital (serato, traktor, to a lesser extent virtual dj) you can set cue points on certain parts of tracks after you've listened to the track and you can see where the cue point is. if a dj is spinning a set of tracks that he or she knows. headphones are not needed. ya dont need headphones to know when to fade... and i know hip hp dj's who cut, scratch, blend with no headphones.

the press play and let it work is not only an EDM dj thing. rap dj's do it too. i've been to mad clubs where i've heard no scratching, and trainwrecks and all being played was rap shyt.

I don't know why some are dissing the new technology because right now shyt is heaven for producers and DJ's. If you make your own shyt, its bliss. You can have the highest quality audio being played and can play at at a party as soon as you make it. That is BIG.

Technics are not needed, stanton-150's are just as good, if not better. If you don't want turntables, you use motorized platters like the new nu mark controller. The pads on that thing is nice. Its the only one with velocity pads, so you can use it like a drum machine. shyt is lovely now. The DJs just need to use the shyt right.
