So I'm listening to the Brother Minister and he said something extra powerful in 1964 that clearly is applicable today.

You're the one who sent Kennedy to Washington. You're the one who put the present Democratic Adminstration in Washington D.C. The white were evenly divided. It was the fact that you threw 80% of your votes behind the Democrats that put the Democrats in the White House. When you see this, you can see that the Nubian vote is the key factor. And despite the fact that you are in a position to be the determining factor, what do you get out of it? The Democrats have been in Washington D.C. only because of the Nubian vote. They've been down there 4 years, and they're all other legislation they wanted to bring up, they brought it up and gotten it out of the way, and now they bring up you. And NOW they bring up you. You put them first, and they put you last, 'cause you're a chump, a political chump.

In Washington D.C., in the House of Representatives, there are 257 who are Democrats; only 177 are Republican. In the Senate, there are 67 Democrats; only 33 are Republicans. The Party that you backed controls two-thirds of the House of Representatives and the Senate, and STILL they can't keep their promise to you, 'cause you're a chump. Anytime you throw your weight behind a political party that controls two-thirds of the government and that Party can't keep the promise that it made to you during election time and you're dumb enough to walk around continuing to identity yourself with that Party, you're not only a chump, but you're a traitor to your race.

And what kind of alibi do they come up with? They try and pass the buck to the Dixiecrats. Now back during the days when you were blind, deaf, and dumb, ignorant, politically immature, naturally you went along with that. But today as your eyes come open, and you develop political maturity, you're able to see and think for yourself, and you can see that a Dixiecrat is nothing but a Democrat in disguise. You look at the structure of the government that controls this country; it's controlled by 16 senatorial committees and 20 congressional committees. Of the 16 senatorial committees that run the government 10 of them are in the hands of Southern segregationists. Of the 20 congressional committees that run the government, 12 of them are in the hands of Southern segregationists. And they are gonna tell you and me that the South lost the war.

Quote starts at 27:43.

There are people here who argue to disengage from a Party that won't do right by them or won't push and pass real legislation to help black folk. There are people here who argue that to disengage from the [Democratic] Party will allow something far worse than mild neglect to afflict black folk. There are others who say the hell with both of them and create our own Party. Some have come up with ideas that are some combination of the above.

However if we are having the same conversation 54 years later. With progress being incremental and yet disproportionately unhelpful in terms of the time passed and the need of justice to be done. Then what are we actually fighting for? Can we continue to sustain the same course of action for another 54 years? Most of us agree that the Republicans in its current form is worse than the Democrats for anyone of African descent here in America. We know the problem. But can there be a solution? Is there a way to implement a course correction in America's politics or does the whole thing just have to, as MLK said, burn and collapse under its flames? If we all vote for Democrats in the midterms and 2020, then what? What precisely do we ask for? How do we ensure that it actually gets done?

In short, what can we actually do to succeed politically and get what we want?

Yevette Carnell suggest that blacks determine an agenda locally and nationally. Then hold officials accountable with the vote.

Accountable how? Just vote them out? Isn't that creating a revolving door that potentially gets nothing done? How can we make sure they get it done while in office?

If Black people voted in a block and just proves it by all voting third party. They would then have to negotiate with us.

There are things black people should agree on, but we don't. As a result you likely won't see any exceptional demands met until there is some cohesion there. At least on a national level. Locally it's fairly straight forward. Either run or vote for people that have the most or your best shared interest.

Step 1: State clearly and define EXACTLY what we want.

Quoted for emphasis.
