I dont get it.

What does a Corporate MX card have to do with running things or management? I have a corporate AMX card too but i'm not part of management/leadership. I'm just a staff engineer. I got it because I travel a lot

thats not always the norm though...usually in the places ive worked only people in management have received corporate cards..i traveled a lot in my last job as a coordinator but i never got a card....i used my own card and they would reimburse me after i filled out an expense report :manny:

We have that option too and it's cool if you wanna cash in on the points/miles while not being responsible for the money but here is the problem: What if I dont have the room for the expenses on my card?

My job can sometimes send you somewhere for a week.... and at the end of said week they ask you to stay there longer. Few examples:
  • I was once sent to London UK for 4 days.. ended up staying 3 weeks. London is NOT a cheap place to visit BTW
  • Was once sent to Costa Rica for 10 days... ended up staying 26 days. Airfair, car rentals, hotel, meals, flight changes..
  • Once went to Polland and was supposed to stay 2 weeks. I changed my flight so many times my airfair quadrupled with the change fees
  • Just the other day i was sent to NY and was suposed to get there on tuesday mornig, work and come back tuesday night. Then they changed it to go tuesday and come back wednesday. I didnt go back home until the following monday. Good thing i always pack extra clothes.
My personal CC only have about $8K limit. When you travel Internationally, rent cars there, change flight dates (change fees) and then hotels and meals the totals can add-up quickly

But yeah... we can be unorganized like that sometimes when it comes to project planning

I probably hate the term more because I was an IT-intern after college. I had to do both Desktop support and System/Domain admin. Sh!t was frustrating. I hate having to deal with people, period. Annoying you every other minute about their computers. My heart goes out to those who get stuck in that position too long
:bustback:

This is exactly what I'm doing now, its for a fairly small office so its not as frustrating

I hated it. Having to create users in AD and provision them for their departments required configs. + we were migrating peole from one domail to another which caused all sorts of issues and also a new mail server.

Well damn, that makes me glad that most of our equipment and software was setup and running smoothly when I got here, I just handle problems and tickets as they come

Man let me not even start. We had close to 250 people to migrate.

We had a 3rd party company running our email and we decided we would have our own mail server and migrate o it. Basically same domain but moving from .net to .com. Thinkit's simple right?
  1. First we had to get all users t migrate their mail. Our approach was back up their .pst files, create the new user on the new email server and reimport into outlook.Sounded good until you tried to reply to an email you got BEFORE you were migrated. You had to delete the recipient and readd them to make sure you were sending to the right address (.net vs .com)
  2. Then came the actual migration of the profiles onto the new Active directory domain. The lady that was leading the project had a really bad aproach to it. Creat the new user on the new domain, log them in and copy files from old user dir to new one using admin access. AWFUL approach. I found that we could actually copy and entire user profile. Did it. Worked like a charm. But then the crazy witch started thinking I was out to get her job. Like i wanted to be stuck with being a Windows AD system admin :laff:
The whole sh!t was a disaster but we enventually worked out the issues and got most people migrated before i left the company.

Now you understand WHY i get pissed when people say "IT". Sh!t brings back horrible memories of mofos complaining about their PCs and catching viruses and being locked out the domain
