Probably near half of adults in society are alcoholics.

Doesn’t mean they drink every day. If you drink every time you go out to dinner, celebrate something, meet up with certain people your an alcoholic. Myself included.

A lot of people are in denial about being an alcoholic. There is plenty of "grey" area.

If you can go XYZ days, months etc, and be OK not drinking....you're good.

If you feel like you NEED a drink, you could be an alcoholic. It's in your brain. Chemical.

You never stop being an addict. You just control it. Also depends on "why" you're drinking. Most folks that are alcoholics, have issues in their past (usually physical, mental or sexual abuse) and they will use SOMETHING to quell the pain. It expresses itself in different ways.

Some people use it as fuel to be really successful. Some become sex-a-holics and smash every broad they see. Some turn to that "hurr-ron" or coke, crack, weed etc. Basically alcoholics are prone to being addicts in other ways.
