People have given you several facts based reasons why things won't change any time soon. Including direct quotes from industry heavy weights who aren't impressed with the progression of consoles.

You're the only idiot in this thread. You keep on spouting off about Moore's Law as if it's a fukking crystal ball, without taking anything else into account. Moore's Law has existed since the 70s, yet people have literally never once been right in estimating how powerful the next gen of consoles will be. Literally not one time, in 30+ years.

You keep on talking about "mid 2020s" as if there isn't 10+ years worth of x factors that could derail the shyt you're talking about. Like the economy may not even support a console in 2025 that can produce photo realistic graphics. Like, Sony, MS, whoever might not be in a position to take advantage of whatever cutting edge tech you're suggesting because it might not be financially feasible to mass produce it. Whether or not the tech is "supposed" to exist then has nothing to do with anything. If it does exist it'll probably only be in high-end PCs and consoles will be another 5-10 years behind it.

A $400 console that does 5 petaflops and has 5 terabytes of RAM will be POSSIBLE in 2025. That is simple Moore's law. You can argue with Tim Sweeney about whether that'll be enough to produce photo-realistic graphics. Don't argue with me that we won't have that much computing power in 2025.

The 360 was 355 GFLOPS, the 720 is rumored to be around 1.5 TFLOPS, there is an 8 year gap between the hardware release dates and in theory the 720 is only 4-5 times more powerful in raw computing, yet you seem to think in 12 years we're going to see consoles around 4000-5000 times more powerful

you don't play pc games. Before sleeping dogs there hasn't been a significant jump in quality that made people say WOW since Crysis. L.A. Noire was also pretty big, but that was more Rockstar trying something nobody else had before.

Even as crazy as BF3 appeared to be, it really wasnt a "WOW" moment. That game did have some ridiculous character animation tho.

I dont think we'll see much difference.

This will be the smallest jump from current to next gen that we've seen yet. We already have 1080P, so things cant get much better than that. Maybe more detail and smoother textures is about it.

On top of that, the more powerful the system the more TIME, MONEY, it's gonna cost to develop games. Most companies aren't gonna push too much b/c they'll probably claim they're losing money.

4K ain't gonna be the standard for a long, long time. If ever. Hell, 1080p ain't even the standard for consoles yet. There is still people that don't even know what a Blu-Ray is.

And developers are asking for specific improvements. Like more RAM. Small shyt like that. You could give them the most powerful console from 10 years in the future and they'd still have the same size budget as they did last gen, and probably drop a 5 hour game that costs $60.

In fact if the "leaps" are always going to be this huge, then why was Resident Evil 4 which was released on the Gamecube in late 2004 got an "HD" update and still looked respectable on the current gen consoles? Don't all generations have HUGE leaps in which would require more than a simple touch up to look nice? ICO and SOTC, God Of War and several others got the same treatment this gen. I assume this would be the case for this upcoming generation as well to bump up the classics released to full native 1080p and get you fools thinking that its such a much better experience. The retuns have been diminishing since the start of this console generation (2007). U just got new PC gamer fever g...cause no way in hell Uncharted 2 can look fugly...lol...I still have games from previous gen that dont look fugly .a good looking game is a good looking game...it def wont be a HUGE leap...it will be a nice leap..nothing more..nothing less..PC games dont look THAT much better to say a game like Uncharted looks fugly...look at a game like Max Payne 3...the console versions dont even look much worse than the PC unless u have a high end graphics card..
