Gullahs are ADOS tho

Yh obviously but they are clearly a distinct subgroup within black America.

He said what he said. If that's what his family did -- and were allowed too. That's beautiful.

I don't agree. But, he is free to have his opinion. We know our family and culture -- that is why we are doing what we are doing.

NO matter, if he agrees or not our advocacy will help him and the entire Gullah Geechee community/descendants.

As they are being pushed out and bought out. Reparations will help them keep their land and get what's due.

Do you know what he means by saying they rejected antebellum culture ?

Dude is right. Africans had become "black Americans" by the time America was being built.

If you think about it, besides skin color Africans and Black Americans really have nothing common cuz the cultural connection does not exist anymore

:comeon: Breh how can u say that when people like the Gullah exist ?

No clue. But, I'm guessing it's a diss. We don't have "Antebellum culture" which is basically saying "slave culture."

It's sad he even said that mess.

People are calling him out -- as they should. Still sad.

Actually they are not. Most African Americans will trace a significant portion of their ancestry back to the coastal regions of the Carolinas and Georgia. People did not move West until about 200 years ago after the Louisiana Purchase.

Both of my paternal lineages go back to Charleston SC. AKA Gulla geechie capitol

They are the most unapologetically Afram Ados group in the country:pachaha:

lol at them being regarded as something else. Basically just a distinct low-country carolina sub culture

Yup. The Gullah Geechee geographical area begins in North Carolina and it goes all the way down through South Carolina, Georgia and into Northern Florida. Literally every nikka in America has multiple Gullah Geechee relatives that still live in that area. Our families might have moved West over the years, but almost all of us are strongly genetically tied to the people in that region. My folks are from Tennessee, but I still remember my grandmother and her sister telling our family at family reunions that our family came to Tennessee after slavery from over by the ocean in North Carolina. We even had a family reunion once over on the North Carolina/South Carolina border one year. The proof to me that my grandmother and her sister were right is that when me and my mother took an Ancestry DNA test one of my genetic communities came back to coastal North Carolina and one of her genetic communities came back to South Carolina. Then an African Ancestry DNA showed that we were Mende maternally and of course Gullah Geechee have strong genetic ties to the Mende people of Sierra Leone.

He's full of shyt because tons of geechies blended in with other ADOS, and became part of the south, it's why they are all over the southern east coast. They live like other ADOS, except those who stayed on the old lands

My mother told me when the old railroad company started hiring everyone(Atlantic coastline) everyone in the Carolinas who worked for the company moved to florida(jacksonville), including geechies

People make it like geechoes are some lost tribe when regular ADOS like Trick daddy mother is geechie. They lived, and ate just like us, except for daily rice eating, but even I grew up like that

And what Caribbean culture is he talking about if the exchange between Bahamas, and USA, was hundreds of years ago? Wouldn't the culture just be African with some British, and indeginous, influence? That's the same as the gullah island areas.

It's the same when people claim Haiti culture influenced new Orleans when that makes no sense. Both places had Spanish, African, and French, influence. That means there was no such Thing as Haitian influence, both new Orleans, and Haiti were the same culturally until time went on, and they both created their own culture
