I got fam in Baldwin. U right, it is more diverse than average. But it's not like North Brooklyn for example. If u gonna live in that area u gotta be in the city period.I agree with the high cost of living and terrible weather (I haven't really heard about the cops there) but I have to disagree about the lack of diversity , much of Nassau County is very diverse. Look at the demographics of Baldwin, for instance.
Thats like saying Ring Dings have more sugar than Ho Hos. I went to private school in LI, I must have went to about 20 bar mitzvahs in a graduating class of 50 kids. Thats not a swipe but LI is hella Jewish. There are way more Jews in NYC.
It's like 40% white, 35% black, 20% Latino, and 5% Asian, that's pretty diverse in my opinion.I got fam in Baldwin. U right, it is more diverse than average. But it's not like North Brooklyn for example. If u gonna live in that area u gotta be in the city period.
Parts of LI have a lot of Jews but I still think it's nowhere near as Jewish as Brooklyn in terms of percentage.Thats like saying Ring Dings have more sugar than Ho Hos. I grew up right there. IDK breh. I dont know anyone from Rosedale who wants to be there. Valley Stream is not much better.I love Long Beach.... nice little "beach" town. Valley Stream is cool too, would love to live there, right next Wal Mart and the mall![]()
). Again tho that damn weather. I have friends from Long Beach and Far Rockaway who literally lost everything when Hurricane Sandy hit
There seems to be an increasing number of people moving from Eastern Queens (and elsewhere in NYC) to Nassau.I grew up right there. IDK breh. I dont know anyone from Rosedale who wants to be there. Valley Stream is not much better.
Long Beach is pretty cool, Rockaways are cool (just stay west of the train stop). Again tho that damn weather. I have friends from Long Beach and Far Rockaway who literally lost everything when Hurricane Sandy hit
NYC suburbs are just no go brehs. If u arent within ~45 minutes of Manhattan by subway ur too far out.
I mean u have that mix of people, but they are all from Baldwin. Its not like Brooklyn where u can walk around and hear people speaking 8-10 different languages down one block. People in Baldwin look different but they are culturally very similar. It's like 40% white, 35% black, 20% Latino, and 5% Asian, that's pretty diverse in my opinion.
Yea my family did it. It was cool for a while, def nicer than where we were but still not nice IMO, now that I've travelled and lived other places. There seems to be an increasing number of people moving from Eastern Queens (and elsewhere in NYC) to Nassau.
Yeah but the type of diversity you speak of is unique to NYC and maybe some places in California.I mean u have that mix of people, but they are all from Baldwin. Yeah good point, I'm sure there are way better places to live all over the country. Especially considering things like how expensive New York is and how shytty the winters are.Yea my family did it. Thats what I'm saying, all the skruggles of NYC are only worth it if u make the most out of it. Living in LI is not at all doing that like in any capacity whatsoever, for most people in LI.Yeah good point, I'm sure there are way better places to live all over the country. Yeah but I think a lot of people like Long Island because they can live in the suburbs and be very close to NYC. But I agree, and I honestly want to get out of New York in general one day.Thats what I'm saying, all the skruggles of NYC are only worth it if u make the most out of it. I think the heavy racism you're talking about becomes a thing once you get deep into Suffolk County. Not really a fan but to each his own.
And it's VERY racist out there once you go past like Hempstead.
