I support it but it's something that I wrestle with. I can definitely understand why it's needed but the fact that the state has killed innocent people is downright frightening.
That being said, I don't think it should only apply to murders. Anyone thats rapes/molests infants and children should be put to death. Anyone that holds a position of vested authority and abuses it at a severe detriment to the people under their responsibility should be put to death. A great example of the last sentence is that judge that put away all those kids while getting money from private juvenile facilities to do so. It would need to be hammered out in fine detail.

I don't agree with the notion that it costs too much...Keeping a sick fukk like the dude who imprisoned and raped those girls in Cleveland alive in a cell for the rest of his life will cost the tax payer much more money than frying the b*stard would...

i dont mourn the death of truly horrible people, but with innocent people getting railroaded, and the fact that it is clearly not a deterrent, i would have to say that i am against it

For sure. There is not hope of rehabilitation and given the fact that not only did he rape those young girls, but caused blunt trauma to make them miscarry as well as keeping one his young daughter locked up her entire life definitely deserves death in my eyes. It's not even about deterring at that point, it's simply about a subhuman who isn't fit to live. Give him a fair trial and let the people decide of his guilt, then put his ass on death row.

i like the idea of capital punishment, but it's poorly implemented for the reasons i mentioned earlier.
i have a serious problem with the disproportionate number of blacks and minorities on death row for similar crimes vs a white person. it reinforces the fact that the justice system values black lives less than whites. blacks and minorities are also more likely to be given the death penalty with a lower burden of proof.
i do believe some people do need to be deaded for their crimes and it shouldn't be limited to murder. some sexual assaults deserve it. some violent lifetime criminals and habitual linesteppers deserve it.
in terms of who gets to exact justice, yes, i'd prefer the option of doing it myself if i were directly impacted. it would give me a greater sense of closure knowing the person who took something from me had their existence ended by my hands. that's me though. i'm also the type of person that wouldn't call the police if someone broke into my house except to come clean up the mess. i know everyone isn't comfortable with that though.

I all for the death penalty for murder. As long as the person is found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt got to go, got to go.
