We don't think ours is good enough?

Self-hatethere's nothing wrong with that in and of itself. but it gets so bad that women like tracy ellis had to come out and tell black women to stop worshiping her hairwhy are you worshiping hair you'll never be able to achieve?

i mean, she's half white, but okay :\Yeah I have kinky hair, but my curl pattern is similar to Rachel True.

In my experience, some girls with afro hair either can't be bothered/don't know how to handle it and/or want to fit in with all the other girls by having straight hair. They're not even ashamed of their racial background, they just don't like the way their hair looks because they're always looking up to beauty rolemodels with straight hair. That, and some of them don't know how to handle their hair, they try to handle it like it's straight hair and are frustrated when it just doesn't work or look like straight hair. So they usually straighten it chemically instead.
Of course, that's in my country, the US might have a diferent outlook.
