Minnesota gon be straight. Just make sure they draft right with the picks they got, gonna have mad cap, get like a Gary Harris maybe in the draft. Prolly Mitch McGrary second round. Let Rubio work on that fukkin jumper but do not max him. Prolly focus big on the Love replacement too. Would you really not want something for him though I mean....
Too late. Flip's here. Doesn't matter. and this time he'll never get fired.

and they're not gonna have much cap (not that it matters, but they won't)

They were winning. They were competitive than they had been for years prior.

Winning what though? More than the small amount of games they historically do? How does that hold any weight to what's going on in the rest of the league?

2011/2012 = 21 wins, 20 losses
2012/2013 = 18 wins, 39 losses
2013/2014 = 24 wins, 29 losses

10-12 PGs in the league would have that team just as 'competitive' and more. To quote myself:

See: Honeymoon period.

A span of 41 games hitting at around .500 isn't nearly long enough to be cashing in that franchise check. They were coming down off that initial high that Rubio brought to the team + the absence of a closer finally caught up to them in the latter stages of the season (and the grind of the season). They held their own against playoff teams when Rubio was injured but couldn't manage to stay afloat in 4th quarters. You really think that Rubio could put up the same pedestrian #s season in, season out (as the leader) and you'd be making any progress in being contenders?

Adelman should be playing him at the end of games REGARDLESS. He's their most important player and their only defender on a team that can't get stops late in games due to their inability to rotate and protect the rim. Rick would never do that to Love, and it seems like the gaudier his stats become the less they matter.

Love's a horrible defender and passer and even I admit if he was better at it it wouldn't nullify the bullshyt that has gone on.
That's the whole point, if Rubo's this franchise player, we wouldn't even be having this discussion on whether or not he should be playing at the end of games. The fact that there's even doubt there to begin with from Adelman (to even think about playing JJ Barea of all people instead), should be all that needs to be said. His defense isn't anything special, it isn't that hard to stand-out (from being active and giving effort) amongst the bad. He isn't the marvel on defense to suggest it could cancel out his lack of impact in the scoring department.

If Love was a good defender, that would go a long way to improving their frontcourt defense.

But Love's not a good defender. Never will be. That's a bigger problem late in games because he won't get benched, so in turn they bench their safety valve on offense (Pek) or they won't use the only rim protector they have (Dieng-- Turiaf as well but there's not much to gain by using him compared to Dieng). Assuming Love stuck around (which is zero), Pek would HAVE to go, the only good C they've ever had because Love would rather whine than play D, but I digress.

Adelman's had a horrible season as coach (and his last one at that). I don't know who the next coach will be (frankly, I don't know who would wanna take the job given what may happen) but whoever it is needs to let Ricky do what he does because what he does worked for this team. They had a better record 2 years ago with Darko and Wes Johnson in the starting lineup. Please don't tell me you're tryna give Adelman a leg to stand on because he doesn't have one. And this is IF Ricky stays. I've always maintained that he's gonna be a tough player to keep, especially if Flip's gonna attempt another rebuild. Dan Fegan won't let him stick around for that.

If your argument is "well Ricky isn't the franchise" you're entitled to that opinion, but then you DEFINITELY can't cape for Love who couldn't win more than 5 games without him, literally, who watched Ricky and the T'wolves injured everywhere win more games in franchise history (not including the KG years) while he was out healing a hand he broke himself. If the compromise is "well neither of them can be relied on to carry the team" so be it. My retort would be that that kind of player will never wear a Wolves jersey from here on out.

What just like Rubio will never be a good scorer? :krs:

As a standalone I don't believe that for a second, Love can actually somewhat make up for his points he gives up on the defensive end, Rubio can't make up the points he doesn't provide on offense (through his defense). Him not being able to score during critical situations is more of a detriment to the team than Love leaking points on defense.

delman's had a horrible season as coach (and his last one at that). I don't know who the next coach will be (frankly, I don't know who would wanna take the job given what may happen) but whoever it is needs to let Ricky do what he does because what he does worked for this team. That's a recipe for disaster (not taking away his ability to run an offense).

I'm not tryna give Adelman shyt, the fact of the matter is any building around him whatsoever will always have a bad ending. What exactly worked though? One season of a 21-20 record where they rode the emotional high of Rubio's honeymoon period?

It was then followed by a 18-39 season and a 24-29 season. That isn't near enough cause to suggest that it's a differentiator, let alone a player having KG-level impact or worthy of being labelled a franchise-player.
If your argument is "well Ricky isn't the franchise" you're entitled to that opinion, but then you DEFINITELY can't cape for Love who couldn't win more than 5 games without him,

Neither of them are players you can directly build around, however, I'd give Love top dollar before I'd ever entertain the idea of paying Rubio the same.
literally, who watched Ricky and the T'wolves injured everywhere win more games in franchise history (not including the KG years) while he was out healing a hand he broke himself..

That brief game stretch means nothing, in the grand scheme of things.

If the compromise is "well neither of them can be relied on to carry the team" so be it. My retort would be that that kind of player will never wear a Wolves jersey from here on out.

So you compromise by gassin up a fringe starting PG into having the impact of a 7ft packet of soy sauce, based off a .500 record of only 40-odd games, declaring him the end all be all of your franchise's future?

.....that's a low bar.

Then we can end this thread right here. If it ain't either of them, then we're arguing for no reason. It won't be either of them, then whoever it is ain't alive yet.

Heaven on Earth
:heh:

What kind of mix and match bullshyt rhetoric is this? I don't know how you can sit there and say with a straight face that he isn't part of the problem. If you're a wing player and you CANT finish or shoot at even a competent level - you're part of the snowball that's rolling down the cliff.
You think Rubio is wing player?

That explains a lot...
