I see people dropping 'The Godfather' and I still don't think that serves proper justice on his impact.
Modern music as we know it does not exist without him.... You really gotta think of him in the same vein as Beethoven or Mozart, etc but he's too contemporary for people to get it.

Plus... :mjpls:

concept of bringing everything back to the “1”

He taught me that this is a mans world .. but that it would be nothing without a woman or a girl. He’s a legend. My grandad ( RIP) loved him. He was good in his book .. he’s good in mine 🤷🏽‍♀️.

OP basically want y'all to discuss James Brown bootstraps mentality.
I can tell a lot of brothers on this site only know James Brown in reference to debates about hip hop.

I was old enough to remember his last years and he wasnt seen in the light he is here lol.

If Social Media was out when he got arrested that last time he woulda got it worse than Luken.

He had a turbulent personal life.. But anyone who know, and talked to people that grew up during his time period, knew they was a f*cked up and truly oppressed generation. Nikkas today have absolutely no excuse to commit the same f*ck ups as the previous generation. We should know better. And if we don't know better, then that further supports my above statement about how disconnected the generations are within the black community.
