Wale is talented but he needs to fix his image, guy whines too much on twitter and reacts to trolls everyday. People hate him even though he seems like a nice guy

We've been doing this for like 2-3 album cycles. This is like a corollary of those 2010 "what does 50 have to do to sell again" threads. He's where he's going to be. He's a dope, solid B level rapper with a nice fanbase. Let's let it be.

I think this "underappreciated" concept works for him though...his core fans love him more. Especially because a decent portion of his fanbase are probably on some "Hip-Hop is dead" shyt. But be honest, with how sensitive he is, if he were a top tier TMZ-in-his-face-everyday level star with all those pressures he'd be strung out. He'd have beat a cashier to a pulp for incorrect change or some shyt. Not sure if he's built for that. Being mad about not being top tier would turn into being mad about not getting a grammy or not going platinum fast enough. And that's outside of the music.

One intangible we never really appreciate is the ability of stars to handle their stardom. There are a lot of cautionary tales, but people never commend Jay-Z or Nas or (in this generation) Drake or Kendrick for not breaking when it feels like the world is against them. It's why some people have sustained, and some brilliantly talented artists haven't.

Stop tweeting and doing interviews.. Then release A LOT of free music...

Pretty much. I was vibin with Wale most in late '10-early '11 when he put out a few super dope mixtapes (More About Nothing, No Days Off). Then joined MMG, and followed up with Ambition, his biggest and best album. The music was dope and doing all the talking for him.

Joining MMG was a gift and curse. He was able to broaden his fanbase but with the greater exposure came more scrutiny and he's handled that horribly because he's too sensitive. You don't see Drake, K Dot, or Cole arguing with fans on Twitter or barking at publications like Complex. Hell, even Big Sean has a better public profile than him. He's been his own worst enemy.

:laff: at trying to slip Take Care in with those projects :laff:
It was a huge release for this generation and delivered and solidified Drake's spot at the top. It was released to damn near critical acclaim, and great sales, and singles that penetrated the culture and a different sound and is better than anything Wale's released comfortably as well as all those other MC's from the new school not named Kendrick. Foh man.

It's how he carries himself that holds him back
Out of all those guys you named I would take him over any of them

I notice people's complaint on him is mostly his personality rather than music.

:francis: I hope he get back to where he was at. Ambition is still my favorite album of his

PYT has gaining crazy spins on radio daily (gained 133+ spins today :damn:). Won't be surprise if the song blows up.
