i dont knwo nikkas history but he always came off like a real get money nikka while Nas was more of the "rapper"

yea, thats the feeling that i always got from those 2 as well. plus AZ to this day, still spits that fly shet with the most atonishing fluidity. i always rocked with AZ harder. nas is slightly better, i'll give him that, but not by much.

1) like slim said, a big part was shytty labels. emi i think only handled gangstarr kinda right, but that had more to do w/ their distinct sound and premo. noo tribe was on the way all the way down and they were never that far up. motown was in a midlife crisis and had no idea what to do w/ rap music that wasnt just 100% commercial.

2) despite the great appearance on illmatic, he was never nas...who in turn didnt become the successful nas until iww where he proved he could appeal to more than just the streets (if i ruled the world, street dreams). az never developed that skill. and late 90s, thats exactly where the game was going.

3) could be worse. he coulda turned to be ali vegas and not reach 10% of his destiny instead of just 55%.

AZ had atleast 3-4 solid albums, numerous guest appearances, freestyles.. not everyone is gonna be Eminem,Nelly,DMX,Jay Z status in terms of success.
