I mean besides vegetables and fruits.

Seems like, from what I see, almost everything else you can eat is bad for you according to somebody.

-Pasta/bread/potatoes/rice are bad because of the carbs
-Meat/cheese are bad because of the fat
-Fruit juice is bad because of the high fructose corn syrup, sugar, and calories
-Sweets/pastries are bad because of the sugar and carbs
-Almost everything in every food category has a bunch of sodium

I'm trying to eat healthier, but it seems like I'll just be stuck eating baked chicken breast w/no seasoning and vegetables every day. :to:

What do yall health-conscious cats eat on the regular?

We evolved past cromagnon due to meat consumption so thats a start

Don't believe all the BS out there on food

There's a reason most herbivores have small brains

What's the reason?

brain tissue requires large quantities of energy to synthesize and maintain, which isnt feasible on typical plants/fruits/grains etc

complex proteins and fats from hunting allowed the evolution past typical primates to where we are today.

Even now, almost 30-40% of your daily calories go towards your brain, and the "50g protein per day daily value" is actually largely all for your brain

human breastmilk for instance has a much higher protein content by volume than milk from a cow

most herbivores dont even fully process plant material(cellulose is made up of relatively insoluble b-glucose chains) even after millions of years of evolution herbivores still dont get maximum energy from eating plant material.

the only reason Legumes and nuts work for "vegans" is because they are "baby" plants and contain largely all the protein and fat that plant would need to grow into an adult plant(provided nutrients and free nitrogen in the soil)

eitherway, almost all predators have larger brains than their prey counterparts. And diet is the reason.

it would take pages to explain how protein's and fats influence the body from an evolutionary standpoint so ill just let you do your own research.

Preach. Trying to eat "healthy" has me afraid to eat anything that isn't fish, chicken, and lettuce. I just need a list of foods that I can eat that will help me lose weight and quiet them stomach rumblings.

youve been brainwashed into thinking many foods are unhealthy in the first place

moderation and understanding what youre eating is all that matters

there are nicaraguans that dont have electricity or modern food preservation yet survive off goat meat and fermented corn meal :leon:

Norfeast groovin…
Just eat a balanced diet, diversify and maybe even cut off certain things. If you in 7-11 and got the munchies, gets some mixed nuts and a water instead of a donut and soda. On payday just splurge on dumb shyt to keep shyt honest.

nothing is really bad for you. its all about moderation. i eat anything i want, steak, pork chops, pasta, whatever, and still lose weight. all you have to do maintain portion control and exercise. if you do that, you can lose weight without eating like a rabbit.

I'm not actually trying to lose weight...I'm normal weight (a little on the thin side) but my blood pressure runs a little high so I'm just trying to eat healthy.

Seems like everything is bad for you tho, especially when it comes to sodium content.

Replace your sugar with organic/natural honey or stevia (grow it if you can). Instead of regular burgers, grab those free range bison burgers.
Water is the new juice:ahh:. Or grab some cranberry juice:drool:. OR if possible, grow your own fruits/go organic and get a juicer.

Whole wheat pasta, quinoa (instead of rice), chicken breast, salmon are great choices. Yams can gwan, even regular potatoes, just make sure you're exercising enough to burn the carbs.

Try and replace/cut down on your dairy. Dont trust them cows unless you know what theyre being fed, and how theyre being raised:wtb:. Coconut milk and almond milk are good alternatives i hear:manny:.

Seeds and peanuts (Sunflower, flaxseed, chia seeds, almonds, cashews, pistachios,) are always good to snack on or add to meals and shakes. Look into supplementing and vitamins too.

But it really comes down to balance and moderation. Everybody is different when it comes to what they can process and tolerate.

oh and :smoker: instead of :drunk:
