If we had the financial means to continue to protest, I think we would still be fighting at full force.

THIS. This is where black athletes and celebrities should band together and fund these protests. The tea party, funded heavily. NAACP funded heavily. Unions, funded heavily. All ended up successful in their initial endeavours.

OP finally let his real feelings be known anyway, talking about mike brown being responsible for what happened to him. Then every victim is responsible if that's the case. They have the cops called on them for a reason. But things aren't as black and white as OP is making it out to be.

The protesting was not and should have never been planned to be something sustainable. What it should have been was a tool used to draw attention to the issue and then get the word out to people on ways to do things that are sustainable. Like shop at only Black owned stores, or within Missouri organize carpools so that public transportation would not be utilized and would directly hurt the economy of the state, or registering people to vote and keeping them informed on the candidates to vote for to effect change. Things like that are sustainable, much more so than marching down the street on end until laws are hopefully passed.

Its always the systems fault. Its never the victim.

movements from impoverished people need more violence than what most fergusonians are willing to muster. walking around with your hands up is not a revolution. the only thing that will save them down there are demographic changes, but that takes time.

If its completed during the Obama/Holder administration then I think it will be a bit more than a slap on the wrist. Holder has been on fire lately
the fact that they dropped the investigation on darren wilson does not give me confidence in their willingness or ability to do anything of consequence to the local government.

They can't vote people out until the next election

Then don't declare the Revolution dead (not but I'm talking about you but others in this thread). If the same ppl stay in office then put a fork in it, if new people get in office then the Revolution has gone from being demonstrative to being real. The Tea Party started out being demonstrative with guys showing up to townhall meetings with AR-15 and people trying to shut down ethnic civil rights groups. They might have not succeed at first but then ended up winning key elections and getting legislation they wanted. Even thou the legislation was stupid and divisive. Alas they are voice for many and that is something you can't take away. Will Ferguson take the next step?

Ferguson was beyond Mike Brown, his unfortunate death sparked a huge revolt in the people of Ferguson. His death was just a symptom in a larger problem. His death wasn't complete the issue, it was the procedure that the police took after his death. Not filing a report for an officer related shooting, not calling in an officer related shooting, not calling paramedics fast enough to see if there was a possibility of revival, leaving his body out in the heat for hours at a time, taking his body in an unmark police car, militarizing the street and city, shooting tear gas at homes, shooting protesters as they ran away, gassing an ENTIRE apartment complex, detaining people with little probable cause, and not listening to the concerns of the people. The whole situation was handled extremely poorly and Ferguson (which had no murders) saw a huge uptick in violence caused directly but horrible policies.

This was a complete break down in government and leadership at the most basic level.
