The closest modern day heel announcer we have is Corey Graves, who isn't bad at all in my opinion :yeshrug:

His heeling seems random though. Sometimes he calls matches straight and then other times he sticks up for the heel. He's not consistent or passionate about it. Anyone hoping to be a heel commentator really needs to check out Heenan, Heyman, and Ventura's work. I have a feeling these guys aren't doing that.

Bobby Heenan set the standard for heel announcers. His disappointment for Ric Flair entering 3rd at the Royal Rumble was hilarious

That match was Bobby's greatest performance ever and the greatest performance ever by a heel broadcaster.

Get your nostalgia bullshyt out of here :camby:

Like you even remember Ventura commentary:heh: how old are you?

the king does not hold a candle to the body imo.

king was more of a clown. he was funny but you could never take him too seriously. when he tried to spin shyt in favor of the heels you knew deep down he was just being an a$$hole. plus JR usually got the better of him during exchanges.

the body was way more passionate and way more fervent in his defense of the heels and it would commonly get the better of gorilla and mcmahon. plus his bias towards was so clear that when he DID himself in a position where he was forced to say something encouraging about a babyface... it would put them over even more.
