RocNation trying to poach Meek out from under him. Sucka shyt.
Nobody really popped other than Meek and Wale somewhat
Ross just need to drop that Drake collabo album and ride off into the sunset and be a business man

Ross should have kept it simple. Meek, Wale, Pill and Gunplay. That's all you need. Signing Omarion, Stalley, Teedra Moses who are all talented but they didnt fit with MMG.

Meek still on MMG despite the legal wrangling/Roc Nation fukkery.

Surprised Ross didn't even try to usher in a new crop of young artists. Kinda a more extreme version of what TDE did. Sure TDE brought in SZA who is a star but overall it seems like they just let shyt stagnate. In Ross' case he just let his shyt straight up die.

Ross realizing boutique labels aint shyt..no real money in it and full of artist headaches

As for the OP.

I think the Meek beef with Drake fractured the group and opened a huge alley for Migos to slide in. Not that both groups couldnt have dominated, but you know how competitive rap is.

If we want to keep it real, MMG was never a true label/crew in the vain of past ones like RR, CMR, NL, etc. They were just a random assortment of guys that happened to be on tracks with each other and had MMG chains. They never fit together despite having bangers and such. Nobody even really seemed like they’d kick it with each other outside of music.

This. Aside from Gunplay and Ross it seemed none of them nikkas was cool outside the booth.

Y’all gotta know Nip was getting push from Ross too. Ross was trying to get him in a joint venture I think. Dom K as well at one point I believe

Insignificant posting from an insignificant poster
they had like 25 releases in 10 years.... I think they accomplished just enough. Meek & Wale are the co-anchors of the label. Gunplay can't really stay off the drugs. Omarion thought leaving MMG would be smart (hint: it wasn't). Stalley & Rockie Fresh went indie. The others weren't really redeemable.

Wonder what Ricky ultimately did with the other two weed carriers from Triple C's.

Those dudes could rhyme with reason in any given season.

Ross was that dude at the time, he had signed Meek and Wale as mainstream acts. Plus he had Pill

He was reaching out to Curren$y and Wiz to sign as well. Dom and Nip on the west also

The latter 4 had the vision to do it their way
