On a lighter note,

any new/good talent out in that genre? Any good albums dropped in the last year? This genre is huge part of black music culture, but seem like the quality took a hit since the 00's

Lmao....I agree with you but even Beyonce has gone from simply making love songs to edgier sh1t like Drunk n Love....man they might actually just wanna grain on that wood instead of get seduced on a psychological level. It's obviously appealing to a significant enough portion of women :yeshrug:

I think we need to place some of the new "R&B" cats in a new genre... the sing rap sh*t over the same type of beats you'd hear Tyga on isn't R&B to me..... Jodeci and Mary J REALLY singing their hearts out over straight hip hop beats was an example of R&B to me... Usher when he 1st came out with the smooth sh*t was R&B to me...... now a days you don't even have to know how to sing for real to be an "R&B" artist unfortunately

Eh making music for black people directly has lost it's appeal to artists so instead they make music that appeals to everyone except for black people but the artist himself is black and has a history of making R&B which is what I guess appeals to black people.

Cosign... basically r&b singers are so busy chasing a platinum sound they dont even try to make stuff in the artistic roots of r&b... but its ironic because the biggest selling male pop singers are all doing heavily r&b influenced sound,
Timberlake, Thicke, and even Beiber are dropping albums more influenced by a traditional R&B sound that your average black male singer dude... In fact documented fact is Usher 'fell off' from his biggest success when he stopped chasing the R&B sound and started chasing euro pop
