No originality.

Majority of the shows nowadays are just cheap ripoffs of past shows. They last a season or two - and fade to black!

Carmichael Show was my favorite recent one.. it was really good to me.

Rel fumbled his shot. His sitcom was horrible.

Tyler Perry took that lane and gave us a bunch of mediocre ones
I know the coli hates him because Kat Williams but Carmichael show was very underrated.

But Jerrod was the least funniest in his own show. David Alan Grier and Rel carried that shyt.

sitcoms sticking to the formula of the 90's doesn't work well with today's audience

Big Bang Theory is an example of that

When it wraps up, Atlanta will be looked at as arguable the certified GOAT of black tv shows

personally I fukk with SouthSide
fukk no and I like Atlanta

Season 2 was mid and they’ve taken forever to follow up

The cast of Friends was making 1 million per episode?! :damn::ohhh:

Friends is one of the GOAT shows tho :wow:

Seinfeld>>>>>>overrated Friends that stole from Living Single's original title and concept. Typical CAC!

While Seinfeld is funnier, Friends is much more universal. Seinfeld is comparatively unpopular overseas, while British newspapers are running articles on how British teenagers still can't get enough of Friends.

If Living Single had one problem that prevented it from reaching the level of Friends, it was that the balance between women and men was off. If you have four girls and two guys, people are automatically going to think it's a show about girls and geared towards girls. Men are going to look at it and immediately consign it to the Girlfriends/Sex in the City/Broad City ghetto. Unfair, but inevitable.

This is is like asking what happen to Disco music in the 90s

they went out of style.

you still have some tho. The blackish universe, family reunion on Netflix, the last og

think OP meant to ask this question in 2009.....:francis:

10 years ago I would have (correctly) guessed that the 2 and a Half Men style sitcoms would die out in favor of ones like Modern Family

Atlanta is a good sitcom for the modern age. But they fukking up, we should be done with season 4 dealing with the impact of the european tour. Instead, we still waiting on season 3

Last OG is good

Atlanta ain’t all that at all.

season 1 was good

season 2 was forgettable. The 3 didn’t have enough scenes together

Sitcoms used to be prestige TV. But it's been a wrap ever since dramas and reality shows took over. :wow:

Remember how there used to be a mandatory very special episode for every sitcom? Even sitcoms that had no business having one (Wayans Bros) had one. They knew everybody was going to be watching. Imagine if a show like Modern Family had one. The audience would be like :scust: because there's no topic a sitcom could do better than a drama in 2020.

@stomachlines, you ever seen Mom or The Goldbergs? Those are both really good sitcoms.
