Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
What I don't get is why every other video game based on a sport strives for realism, yet in the boxing games we don't get any type of depth. Even the training games leading up to the fights are retarded, word you only get to train 4 times prior to your first mega fight, and some of that is weight lifting, word?

Because getting tired and not being able to throw punches in the later rounds isnt fun.

To this day the funnest boxing game me and my friends have ever played was that Evander Holyfield joint for the Genesis and that wasnt realistic at all.

Again, other sports games trend more towards realism, getting fatigued and not being able to sprint in football/basketball games doesn't seem to be an issue.

Boxing is all about strategy and managing your body, in these shytty games those things are completely thrown out the window. A cerebral boxing game could work considering the people that want boxing games generally follow the sport.

The people usually behind boxing games aren't real fans of the sport so they misinterpret or leave shyt out that they think would alienate the casual gamers.

FN Champion was going in the right direction, but it can still be improved on. A new FN would definitely move units since boxing has been doing good lately. Guys like Broner, Canelo, and Chavez Jr still be drawing in millions of viewers when they fight so the interest is there.

In basketball if my player gets tired i just sub someone in and continue playing my style. Then after my star rests i just bring him back in. If a boxing game was realistic when my boxer gets fatigued the game gets worse and worse. Im not trying to spend a round just being defensive to build my stamina back up.

And i disagree that the people who want boxing games want a cerebral more realistic game. The overwhelming majority of the people i see playing Fight Night dont play in a manner thats even remotely realistic. You think these games arent focus tested? They know the average consumer doesnt want too much realism in the game.

For this to work they need a realistic mode, and a fun mode. The fun mode would get played a lot more.

That's not fun though breh, having to sub out a player. So, basically you don't want any type of punishment for throwing 1000 power punches per round, having to actually manage your stamina and think about how you're going to fight would be an accurate representation of the sport. Just like you have to sub out your players, because that's what actually happens in real life.

People don't play Fight Night in a realistic manner because you will lose if you do :russ: Why be cerebral when the game doesn't reward you for it?

I didnt say turn it into Punch Out, there needs to be a balance.

You have to remember that above all else a game has to be fun. Most people arent trying to in a manner that wont leave their fighter exhausted after the 5th round. We in there going for knockouts, not split decisions. People get pissed online when you start hugging them, although in boxing the fighters hug all the time.

How many people would be happy if in Madden they turned up the number of injuries to mirror a real NFL season? You know what im going to do if in my season Aaron Rodgers goes out for the season in week 3? Im gonna start a new season. fukk that.

There is no balance, which is the point, the game is in no way a good representation of the sport. It trends more towards being all out arcade than any other sports game, Madden, the Show & 2k all lean heavily towards being sims because fans demand the accuracy. While Boxing on the flipside is basically an arcade fighter with some stamina thrown in.

A game that trends more towards being a sim would be fun, especially if it rewarded actual strategy and fight knowledge. Being able to punish someone that throws nothing but power punches early on while you're defensive would be great, actually having to think before you just go into a round flailing away on the sticks would be fun. Like I said, every other sport game trends towards being a sim first, not Boxing though, seems exempt from that for some reason.

Seriously, if you've never played it, you need to track down a copy of this game. It's a mix of japanese and english but it's worth wading through to play. The Career Mode is called Boxer's Road.

You have to set your schedule like this.

You actually have to make weight for your weigh-ins and if you don't, you get penalized.

There are multiple boxing federations with their own belts, like 12 in each division. You can move up and down in weight. You get ranked in different federations. I started at featherweight in my career and moved up to welterweight. My guy was fukking Amir Khan to a tee. At the lower weights, my speed and punching overwhelmed people, when I moved up to 147, I learned that my chin was some fukking Grade A China. :manny:

Watch this and look at how a small japanese company absolutely shytted on EA and their offerings in Career Mode. This is better than MLB's Road to the Show, NBA2K's My Career Mode and Fifa's My Player Career Mode. fukk, I am due for my new playthrough anyways here on the emulator. If someone wants to give it a whirl, I keep the ISO on deck on the PC at home.

If everybody turned each match into a slug fest ending in a couple of rounds shyt would get stale pretty quick. Unfortunately that's the only way some people want to play. They don't want to stick and move or pressure cats into the ropes and work the body. They wanna run in throw bombs and see who lands first.

The most fun I've had with friends playing the game is when shyt starts heading into the 6th or 7th round where every feint and every punch counts because nikkas are a lil winded and you gotta use some strategy to land the perfect shot for the KO or survive and win a decision. shyt gets intense. You can still KO dudes early in FN Champion if you use the power tuner and land the perfect shot (usually a counter) but even that takes practice and skill. nikkas be wanting that instant gratification though

FN definitely needs to expand an improve their career mode though.
