I agree wholeheartedly with this post from top to bottom. If you're a fan of the sweet science, this series (including Champion) can outright disgust you with its rendition of boxing.
- Awful canned knock down/knock out animations,
- Awful punching animations (you perform the same punches from the outside that you do from the inside),
- Upper body (punches) felt like it was moving at 60 FPS while the lower body (feet) felt like it was moving at 15 FPS.
- Awful stamina imbalances - one day they'd release a "tuner", which was nothing more than them tweaking in game sliders behind the scenes, where stamina wasn't a factor at all. Then after hearing complaints, a couple of days later, they'd release another one where if you throw a couple of combinations, your fighter had no juice left.
- Very little discrepancy in how each fighter feels.
- Absolute shyt A.I
- And last, but certainly not least, after asking for years for a referee, they put one in there and he has absolutely NO impact on fights.
Like you said, I can go on for quite a bit as to the atrocities that this series, in particular FN Champion, has committed against boxing, but I'll stop there. Every boxing game they release gets old pretty fast because of the lack of attention to the most basic of details....
As far as this thread is concerned, the initial plan was for EA to release
one off this series with the FN developers. Have them make a MMA game one year, and then a boxing game the next. However, as with everything with EA, it's all about money, and even as a multibillion dollar gaming company, they've always complained about how much it costs to sign fighters individually, and with them acquiring the UFC licenses, I'm sure they're placing majority of their eggs in that basket because it's more cost friendly to them.
